what made that worse for me was that Dominic never tagged or tweeted him so Judd must have searched to see who was talking about him. Any player with a good temperament should not be doing that during an interval.
10-5 to Ding going into the final frame of the night. |

We have said a few times in the past how Trump should have won more than he has. He had been touted as the next thing. How much of that is down to his attitude ? Can be very surly and petulant

I think the way it is going with him trying to win the World title, he is going to end up like the next Jimmy White, as the best player never to win the World Champuonship
It was a bloody awful session between him and Ding tonight. I do think Selby has another couple of World titles in him though. Good luck to the Hawk tomorrow - Barry is playing beautifully and I would love it if he could defeat Ronnie who will no doubt announce his 'retirement if he loses. Again. |

I'd really love to see Alan make another World Championship semi-final. It's been a very long time since he last did so, with two in a row in 1992 and 1993 I think it was. He seems a genuinely lovely guy and he doesn't even age one bit. Seems to look much the same as he did in the early 90's still. Infact let's be optimistic JC and hope he makes a first World Final, now that would be a story!
![]() It's also very good news to see Mark Williams back in with a shout and being competitive at the Crucible again. A quick mention of Ebdon, who I heard say the other night - "in 23 years of coming to the Crucible" but I clearly remember his first round demolition of Steve Davis as a pony-tailed newcomer in 1992, so 24 years ago. The combination of Virgo and Ebdon on the Selby match was a good pairing. More of that set up please. It would be great if McManus made the SFs this year again RT. A final appearance would be even better. As you say a lovely bloke who seems ageless. Regarding Ebdon. I think he was right. This year was his 23rd appearance at the Crucible as he failed to qualify twice (in 2014 and 2015) He's a great addition to the BBC's team I think.

Trump has won 5 ranking titles, not bad at the age of 26. Can he win this one though? he obviously has the talent but he seems to get rattled easily.

I Think Ronnie was 25 when he won his first World Championship, only a year younger than Judd is now.

Great response by Ding, a cool 72 restores his four frame advantage. |

Ding on the hill, another one visit kill of 91 puts him 12-7 up. Considering the way he lost the opener he's shown commendable character.

Allen fighting hard, has won the first 3 today to close to 8-11. At least there will be a mid-session in both games now.

So for the second time in the match Allen's come out from a near hopeless position to win all 4 frames up to the interval - 9-11 it is.

Very disappointing from Judd again. When he reached the final 5 years ago I thought he was the best thing to happen to the game since Ronnie came on the scene and I expected him to be totally dominant within a year or 2 and a multiple world champion by now. Domination and multiple world titles, if any, look a very long way off now.

Judd Trump needs to cut out the reckless shots, it's a weak spot and players know he really struggles in tight scrappy frames

I've enjoyed this tournament so far. I never watched live from day one but my interest has steadily grown as it's gone on. I think it's more wide open than ever.
Digressing a bit, and maybe worthy of it's own thread, but who do you think the top 10 players never to have won the World Championship since 1977 would be? I guess Jimmy White would top the list with 6 runner up appearances but what other players who have won ranking events haven't won the big one? Ding, I guess. Then guys like Trump, M Stevens, Carter, Hunter, Lee, Fu......maybe Foulds, Mountjoy...something like that? (I'm just constructing my list on-the-spot!) Other possibilities - Allen, McManus, Wattana.....? |
