Digressing a bit, and maybe worthy of it's own thread, but who do you think the top 10 players never to have won the World Championship since 1977 would be? I guess Jimmy White would top the list with 6 runner up appearances but what other players who have won ranking events haven't won the big one? Ding, I guess. Then guys like Trump, M Stevens, Carter, Hunter, Lee, Fu......maybe Foulds, Mountjoy...something like that? (I'm just constructing my list on-the-spot!) Other possibilities - Allen, McManus, Wattana.....?”

I suppose it depends on the criteria. Are we talking based on performances in the worlds or overall ? Somebody like Matthew Stevens has twice being a beaten finalist but only won one ranking event

my 10

Ding
Jimmy
Maguire
Paul Hunter ( although i am convinced he would have won it one day )
Fu
Wattana
Mark Allen
Stephen Lee
Ali Carter

Yeh that's it I reckon, he just makes so many mistakes in the scrappy frames 3 in a row in that last one.

Neal Foulds mentioned on Eurosport earlier that this match is very similar to Ronnie's last 16 match with Joe Perry a couple of years ago.

Perry 5-3 up after session one, 9-7 after session two and then 11-9 ahead at the last mid session interval.

Don't know if any of you remember that match. Ronnie won the last four frames to win 13-11!

Immense break by Barry this.

Come on Hawk!

Don't blow it now!

Edit.

I spoke too soon - Ronnie is now the favourite.

Don't say Ronnie's going to.....................

Missed the 12th red damn but 12-11

Incredible. Within 15 minutes he's got two frames back!

Could have even had a maximum!

Despite all the antics with the bad tables/cushions/kicks etc. This has been one hell of a good tournament so far hasn't it ?

Every time Thorne opens his enormous gob he jinxes a player - just like now for Barry.

What exactly did 'Mr Maximum' ever win again?

Looks like we have to wait another year for Ronnie to get closer to Hendrys record of seven World titles

If it goes to a final frame I fancy Ronnie for it. I think Barry may crumble.

No - because The Great Gob of Thorne jinxed Barry yet again - it is almost as if he wants Ronnie to win.

I have not forgot about his comments about Alex Higgins years ago either.

Thorne is famous for two things - early baldness and a tache.

On the brink 12-9 down and looks like 12-12. How does the genius do it? Has he even been ahead in this match?

Always rely on Brendan Moore for a decider

Can't really believe he has come back from this, well my night will be ruined or I'll be buzzing, come on Ronnie.

12-12, but you have to say that Barry Hawkins was unlucky in that last frame not to get on a red cleanly after potting a superb black early on. This is going to be either tense or a quick fire clearance...

Hawkins will nick it at the last gasp I think.
