I know Ronnie bashing is a favourite pastime by certain people on this forum and no doubt they were whooping in delight when he went out, but to not think that the media put undue pressure on the guy is laughable.
I also found it very hypocritical when people were saying how unfortunate it is that Michael White was suffering from depression, yet people mock and make fun of O'Sullivan. If he doesn't turn up for a press conference he is 'sulking', if he's not playing with a smile on his face or looks serious, he is 'not up for it'. It would seem that O'Sullivan's mental health issues are swept under the table.
The pathetic nature of some of the posters in this thread is why I rarely bother with it anymore.
Anyway, I'm hoping for a Mark Williams win from here.
Final point, I'm really enjoying Terry Griffith's commentary. He was someone that I didn't really appreciate, say five years ago, and I imagine he's only working at the moment to cover for Dennis, but him and Stephen are easily my favourite two to listen to at the moment.”
Is this aimed at me ? You've quoted two of my posts above and you did last week. Yet once again you refuse to quote any posts of mine that praise Ronnie and his attitude last night. That I find disappointing.
Let me make my points clear
Anybody who suffers with depression has my sympathy. It's an absolute **** of the highest order.
My criticism of Ronnie was regarding him breaking rules. You asked me how I stood on Selby missing the last two events and Robbo picking and choosing yet to the best of my knowledge they haven't broken any rules. The rules are there for all. Ronnie gave an interview after he lost so why not after he won ? It is in his contract like all 32 players. Had any other player done that I would be chastising them too. But because it's Ronnie it's seen as picking on. It isn't, he broke the rules plain and simple. Whether you or I agree with the rules or not is irrelevant.
Look back at last night and you will see the only poster who, at 12-9, was saying don't write Ronnie off was me. Who praised his congratulations of Barry ? Who said his fans were excellent last night ? The same poster you appear to be slating.
