Punishment continues for MJW. 8-2 down. This could be over with a session to spare

Beautiful artistry to Ding's breakbuilding, lots of little nudges and cannons. Very easy on the eye.

After Barry's win last night I did wonder if perhaps it would have taken too much out of him. Either that or it would have been a huge confidence boost. Seems it's the first scenario.

I have no idea what the solution would be, but it does seem a tad unfair that the scheduling allows some players to get 're-charged' and others to play near enough straight away
Can work both ways though. Look at Ding, McManus and Wilson. All played 3 matches before ever starting at the Crucible and that has helped them. That said poor Bazza does look bushwhacked. I was hoping the adrenaline would still be pumping but he just looks shattered.

Ding definitely has a chance of winning the title if he continues playing like he is. It's amazing to think how far he's dropped down the rankings when we see just how fantastic he can be.

A lot of the time in recent year the quarters seem to be won by wide margins.

Although I have not written off Kyren Wilson yet

He never fills me with confidence but in recent years Ding has been my second choice to win the WC (after Ronnie)....so I hope he can carry on in this vein.

11-3 to ding. Going to be the miracle of all comebacks needed (it is) for MJ but if he gets 1 more frame we have 2 games tomorrow afternoon guaranteed

Why switch to Ding on red button? Cheapskate BBC.

I don't get what you mean. Did BBC have the Selby match on the red button and swapped it for Ding ? Guessing it is because the Ding v Williams game could end this evening.

Yes, Selby all evening and then a sudden switch to Ding.

Dings odds to win the Championship have significantly dropped. He was definitely worth backing at the beginning. A classy player who has had a poor season but found his form at the very right time.

What about the pressure of winning the World Championship when the whole of China is hoping you do it

Wow. If you'd said when Ding got dumped into the qualifying quagmire he'd be the first man into the semis you'd have got laughed at. Every credit, very pleased for him 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

It was most likely, and as the Ding match finished, it's gone back to Selby-Wilson, so at least red button one channel users still have some snooker to watch.

It's well worth noting at this point that if you have a Smart TV, the BBC Sport app on that does show both tables at all times (and in HD), so you can easily switch between them. I've done that a lot for the last 2-3 years and works really well.

I still cant see Ding winning the title, He might have got used to the Crucible and playing the long matches but the closer he gets to the final the expectations and the pressure will be immense. I dont think he knows how big it would be in China if he ever won the World Championship

Spot on TC. In fact I've backed Ding in all three rounds of the predictions, as I suspected that him having to qualify has sharpened him up and possibly done him good - not having the comfort blanket of automatic top 16 qualification.

You could also argue that the pressure is off him somewhat as no one was necessarily expecting him to come back to such good form, but I can see the semi final against Higgins or McManus to be a close battle and of high quality. He also gets a day off does Ding, and that may also prove very decisive!

How often has a match been won with 2 sessions still left?

If he were to win it coming in at the first qualifying round, he would had to have won 101 frames!

It would therefore be a great achievement if he did win it. Also, it would probably mean that the current qualifiers format of having to win three matches just to get to the Crucible would be vindicated.

I think quite a few times. I remember Stephen Hendry getting beat with two sessions to spare against Stephen Maguire in his very last match at the Crucible and his career as he retired soon after that

That was one session to spare. Best of 25s only have three sessions. (8/8/9)

I think the frames played within sessions are worked out so that winning with 2 sessions to spare is an impossibility.
