Can't install Instagram on Ipod Touch?

I installed Instagram about 5 months ago......haven't logged in for a while...noticed it isn't on my Ipod Touch now....tried to re-install it but it says newer software is needed.....my Touch is the latest version.....I did notice that in the Apple store there is no longer any apps listed for the Ipod Touch?? (I have 4th Gen). Anybody help with this please?

Instagram now requires iOS 7 or above and the last version your iPod supports is iOS 6.1.6

There is a facility for older versions of apps to be left available for download on the App Store so that older devices can use them but it seems that the Instagram team have chosen not to do this.

If you synched or backed up your iPod then there's a chance the older version of the app could be on your computer somewhere in which case you could manually reinstall it through iTunes.

Ok, but that still doesn't explain that I tunes store is not listing any Touch app's available?
