The Sun ought to remove that picture of Corrie stars superimposed onto an image of a sinking Titanic.
It'll only give Bryan Kirkwood ideas for an autumn "giants attack cruise ship" stunt for Hollyoaks.

Pitching Michelle Keegan as a recent departure is clutching at straws, it's been nearly a year!
Made up a non-story out of a string of successive exits, though I can't see the body of the story so I'll have to make assumptions that it has nothing to do with the show's quality. Regardless, I think there are things that need doing but there's no crisis, the exits aren't a factor at all and the show is not going to sink. |

I won't pay to read this trash. Its just a stunt, a funnish Picture, nothing more nothing less. I bet the Sun didn't mention that CS is still the most watched Continuing Drama in the UK?

Rupert Murdoch probably sings 'My Heart Will Go On' every night to a framed copy of News Of The World. Convenient how he never labelled that the Titanic.

Dramatic as ever from The Sun, while Corrie is a mess it ain't a Titanic level problem.

Here's the article, it is a bit dramatic but the loss of Alison and Michelle is a blow and the show does have serious quality issues. Quote:
CORONATION Street is facing the biggest staff crisis in its 55-year history — with some cast and crew comparing it to the Titanic disaster.
The Sun revealed this week the ITV soap has been rocked after losing major stars Alison King, 42, and Craig Charles, 50, in the space of days. They followed other high-profile exits including Michelle Keegan, Georgia May Foote and Ian Puleston-Davies. Now sources are warning more staff could bolt as they grow increasingly fed up over pay, sponsorship bans and plotlines. An insider said last night: “There is a real feeling of discontent. It is probably the worst we have ever known it. “People are comparing it to the Titanic and if the bosses aren’t careful they could face a mutiny.” One star who has just left the Weatherfield soap stunned guests at a recent charity bash when they were heard ranting: “People used to be afraid of getting the chop but these days they are thinking, ‘I’ve had enough of this — I want a break and try to do something else’.” Some stars are angry they are paid less than their Emmerdale counterparts. Others resent they are not allowed to make extra money from TV endorsement and sponsorship deals. Crew are also said to be unhappy and on Wednesday some of them joined ITV employees to ballot for strike action over pay. Anger is being directed at executive producer Stuart Blackburn, who took over in 2012. Our source said: “Some of the junior and middle-ranking actors are basically paid per episode. “They are guaranteed a certain amount, but if they aren’t involved in a major plot, their earnings can drop. Some of the old school stars like Bill Roache are on big-money, guaranteed contracts, but they just don’t give them out any more. A lot of the cast, especially glamorous girls like Kym Marsh and Cath Tyldesley, are keen to do TV endorsement work to boost their income, but aren’t allowed.” The source continued: “And many crew members are unhappy with the direction Stuart has taken the show. They feel it is now far too reliant on big crashes and huge dramas when it used to always be about humour and northern wit.” Last night a Coronation Street spokesman said: “We will not be drawn on gossip and speculation.” |

I do agree that Corrie is in a dire state but I'm not sympathetic at all to those actors and actresses angry over a ban on sponsorship deals and promotion work.
They need to get overthemselves in that regard. Their hardly singing for their supper on street corners. |
