It sounds like genuine mistake to me or else why would she have informed them as soon as she went into CBB.

I am sure it was a genuine mistake because nobody would be daft enough to cheat benefits in full view on television would they?

In general though, I am not surprised if people don't announce a one off change of circumstances when it can mean your money is stopped completely for between six weeks to three months, while the new claim goes through.

well yeh but to be honest she couldn't have really hid that seeing as its shown every night on national TV. Even though I liked Linda in CBB [I HATED Jim and didn't see why people backed him after he brought up the incident involving her dead husband], I don't understand why shes claiming benefits. Shes been in showbusiness for like 40/50 years and from what I know, I havent heard anything about her other sisters having money issues so they must have money in the bank

She was unable to work for a long time because she was ill, and I dont think she was ever fabulously rich in the first place.

She couldn't work when her husband died apparently. I've got no problems with someone claiming benefits legitimately whether they are an (ex) celeb or not and it was clearly originally a legitimate claim but she should have notified them when her circumstances changed which she didn't. Whatever, she's paying the money back and I have no reason to think it wasn't an honest mistake.

no im not saying they are all multi millionaires like Madonna and obviously we don't know exactly what each of the Nolans sisters are worth. I am presuming Coleen earns the most with doing Loose Women and she seems to be on TV the most. Also obviously Coleen and Linda have both done CBB so they cant be absolutely loaded. What I am saying is we don't hear the other girls [including Bernie before she sadly passed away] having money issues so it makes me wonder why its only Linda that's struggling.

Course you didn't............ ROLLEYES
A lot of other people have lost their spouse, members of family etc., & still remembered to inform the authorities of any work they were paid for.

I knew it! It's funny, back when she was in CBB I made a post about her possibly claiming benefits fraudulently, and I was shot down by the "Mummy Nolan" Appreciation Society. They were outraged I could even suggest such a thing about Saint Linda... Well, I feel vindicated!

As for Linda... She is rotten to the core and has absolutely no shame. Even now, she's selling her story to a rag, cashing in on her crimes. I hope they lock the old scumbag up and throw away the key!

She has the responsibility to notify the agency of a change in circumstance ....so going on CBB in front of the nation for a hefty fee , I would say is a change in circumstances...it's work!!!

She notified the agency when she got the BB job. The discrepancies were for a TV appearance and magazine column. (according to the article quoted earlier)

Why are there people that STILL think that Linda was in the wrong? It was Jim who behaved badly. He made little digs about her and when confronted about it, he'd walk away and/or plead innocent and claim that he was the victim. He made the comment about Frank Carson's dressing room, knowing that it would upset Linda and when she spoke to him about it, he denied every saying anything about it!

There seems to be this image on here that he was some poor, sweet, innocent man who was bullied beyond belief by Linda and he never did a single thing wrong. Yes, Linda wasn't perfect herself and she went on a bit too much about him, but he wound her up. He did exactly the same thing when he was on Hell's Kitchen. He made sly digs about Brian Dowling, and when he'd speak to him about it, he'd make out that he hadn't done anything wrong and would try to play the victim.

And now, because Linda is having trouble with benefits, people here automatically believe that she did it intentionally. Of course she didn't. As trevor tiger said, why would she have informed them when she went into CBB?

£12,000? How long did she "forget" for? Has to be a long time, surely.

I agree. Jim Davidson is and always has been a foul, sly, sneering pig as he was on CBB and Hell's Kitchen, but £12000 is a long time of falsely claiming benefits for a single person.

It's all still paid employment.

She forgot to inform the benefits agency that Frank Carson's dressing room is now vacant and is a spare room.

I " think" (And this is only going by something someone explained to me years ago) that when you fail to notify them your entire claim becomes invalid, so you are responsible for paying back everything you were given since, even if you would have been entitled to it.
So if they find out a year later you have a years worth of benefits to pay back.
It's all still paid employment.
But nothing to do with BB and presumably on a much smaller scale.

I can assure you if the agency sent her less money or no money she would have been down at the office in a heartbeat ...odd when she receives money she "forgets" to notify them ...regardless of where it came from

If people are left without money to live on if they notify a change in income (that might well only be fifty quid or so) it is easy to see why they would be frightened to own up to it.
(Not suggesting that this applies to Linda Nolan)

I thought Linda Nolan was a foster carer anyway. Isn't that classed as paid work as it generates income. Didn't Coleen make a fuss publicly about Jim Davidsons comments affecting Linda as a foster carer or something???
