New Humax Freesat boxes
Patent Pending
10-05-2015
The same Humax boxes seem to have been around for ever. Does anyone know when they were last updated and when they're due an upgrade? Thanks

Freesat or Freeview? This is the Freeview forum, Freesat is over here

If you do mean Freesat you might get a more knowledgeable answer over there.

Freesat boxes from Humax are pretty well dead. Existing boxes are very underpowered when compared to the Freeview offerings.

A poor deal for those who can't get freeview - especially as the Fox T2 boxes have now disappeared. Humax make more money from their grotty YouView boxes......

Their Freesat boxes are now termed Freetime.

my 1800 - purchased 3 months ago - is fine thankyou. The 2000 gives slightly bigger disk and extra usb port. Im having a fine time both watching my humax directly and transferring recordings to my mobe phone and computer ........

note, the latest one4all "simpleset" remotes will work on this recorder with a single setup - the only buttons on humax 1800 are power on and channel change - with most commands reachable, although the very important "opt" button does require an extra "learn" from original remote ..........

Freesat boxes are pretty well dead you say? Have you arrived from a parallel universe?

The Freetime second generation Freesat boxes from Humax are state of the art PVR's. It's the Freeview boxes that are the current poor relation - I should know as I have both.

Your post is a fine example of the need to be mistrustful of what one reads online.

In my terms - they are indeed dead - but I speak as one who can't - or doesn't want to - use catch up services. Nor can the boxes be 'hacked' (to give extra features) and AFAIK there are no DLNA services either.

If I'd gone to the trouble of explaining all that in detail - folks woud not read the post.
Everybody wants a quick / incomplete snapshot of the topic - that's what they got....

Probably not an upgrade as the current boxes and the new one will end up using the same software as each other.

They cannot act as a DLNA server but they do act as client.

Whether you want to use the catchup services or not, they are still a very good box with an excellent planner and have access to a great many channels.

Your post then was more a total misrepresentation of the facts rather than the snapshot you claim.
