Duran Duran a great British band ?
For me, it was always Duran Duran. From the great B-sides (Late Bar, Secret Oktober) the classic A-sides (Girls On Film,Rio) the groundbreaking videos. The tours, a classic Bond theme and huge American success they were THE band of the first half of the 80's.
Although things got bumpy along the way they remain (IMO) one of best bands to have come out of the UK. |

Love em! They had a himbo reputation but had some amazing tunes.
Chauffeur and Do You Believe In Shame are my favourites. Loved Power Station and Arcadia too. |

Indeed they are!
I always thought The Chauffeur was quite a haunting but beautiful song! |

Definitely! I think because they are attractive and had a lot of screaming female fans some people thought they weren't talented but were an airheaded boyband like One Direction or something. But they are actually talented, write their own songs and play their own instruments.
And they are still recording and touring and Simon still sounds great. They are coming out with a new album this fall produced by Nile Rodgers and Mark Ronson. |

One of the best groups ever, so many iconic songs like "New moon on Monday", "Electric Barbarella", "Girls on film", "Hungry like the wolf", etc etc. Imho Le Bon, Rhodes, and other the other members that made this brilliant group are legends.

Never a great band but usually a good one.
'Ordinary World' was their moment when they got closest to greatness. |

Kinda like them in a 'guilty pleasure' way. Their version of White Lines is great and I was very much taken with their Wild Boys video growing up!

A lot of the music press wrote them off as a bunch of pretty boys at the time and it was not cool for teenage boys to admit to their mates to liking them (my brother can confirm this)
Though their music has stood the test of time so i would say yes |

Duran Duran and Rio are both great albums. I appreciate them more now than I did as a kid.
The Singles 81-85 album contains some of the B sides which were up there with the best stuff they made IMO. |
