Wolfy - BB 14 springs to mind for me. She went from being very popular, to almost overnight being despised with the British public.

I never personally liked her. Her above everyone else attitude, and her wildly over indulgent admissions about how well 'loved she is'. How she 'knows' she'll be in the final worked against her big time........

She was never that likable in any case tbf!

Any others?

Maxwell heard the cheers and after that thought he was King Shit and untouchable.

Went out to one of the biggest boos up to that point and didn't even try to hide how angry he was.

Pauline had to fall the fastest

I don't know why the public jump on them so quickly with their instant adoration. It usually takes a good couple of weeks for the masks to drop - though not so much in latter years when many are complete arses from the off.

I don't know what popular opinion was on Luke Marsden. I wasn't partaking in forum life then but he looked like a fabulous, funny HM initially. By god, was I wrong!!!!

I agree with Luke first night I honestly thought he could win it.

Then Bex and Luke happened.

I don't think Luke EVER looked like a fabulous, funny HM. Not even when he appeared in the audition shows before BB9 started.

Like was awful -- a sly, two-faced stirrer who went from group to group -- from the start, in week one. Well before "Luke and Bex"

There are some things should never be spoken of again. Ever

So many launch faves have had huge drops. Wolfy, Pauline, Caroline being three later ones.

We had Carole, Grace, Bea and all that.

Just to be clear: Grace and Bea weren't launch night faves; Carole, however, was.

Makosi? The whole pregnancy thing...

I remember Michelle Bass being extremely popular too until she went single white female on Chicken Stu.

Sophia from BB10 was pretty popular on launch night but she couldn't control her temper in the house so didn't last long.

I remember Michelle's popularity was very unpredictable, it was quite an exciting journey.
For the first couple of weeks she wasn't very popular as she was kind of quiet and was known simply for looking a bit obsessive about Stuart.
Then in the bedsit she managed to relax more and became very popular, which she managed to ride for quite a few weeks. It even saved her from eviction in week 5 despite throwing a huge tantrum at being nominated.
Then she got even more popular during the bootcamp task as a sergeant, becoming joint fave to win.
But then came the wedding task where she was mad at not being the bride and was a woman possessed wanting to have the dream romance with Stuart, even if he wasn't fully into it. Then the next week, chaining Stuart to Shell was literally baiting Michelle into making a show of herself and got her promptly evicted.

Laura...she spent over 400 hours in bed (which was over half of her time in the house)

Wasn't she known as a Lipgloss B**** back then, and so liked by those who liked the LGBs?

Let's not forget her version of Pie Jesu.

*forum favourites during launch. Also Grace was 2nd fave to win on launch. Bea had an incredible reaction on here during launch. And they both had huge falls within the first week of their time in the house.

Perhaps but I don't know if the groups had truly formed by then, at least when it came to viewers picking a side. It was the bedsit and Emma/Michelle's return that really divided things, Jason and Victor were pretty mellow before the bedsit eviction.
I think had it been a normal eviction then Michelle may have gone.

lol I'm always curious what effect that had on her popularity. It was a cringeworthy moment but I don't know if it was a "Ugh she thinks she's Mariah Carey, she's so desperate" moment or if it was seen as entertaining.
It seems rather harmless to have affected her popularity too badly.

Wolfy is a textbook example. She had the potential to be great, and I liked everything about her on launch night, right down to her entering the house barefoot, she seemed so down-to-earth. But her popularity went to her head ("i'm gonna be in the final!") and she was either too dramatic (reaction to Sallie's eviction, or her "i'm doing it for the big girls" DR speech) or just straight up playing up to the cameras (talking to the insects, among other things). She was just too young tbh, I mean mentally immature, and too lacking in self-confidence to be herself.

I saw Pauline's fall from grace coming within like 10 minutes of her having entered the house.

One that springs to mind CBB-wise is Julie Goodyear! 'Nanna Julie' was extremely popular and a 'national treasure' when she walked in - she was rumbled by a Nolan and came out as a bitter, manipulating old has-been. Vile. That banana scene - *vom*

CiviBB - yes Wolfy is the one that instantly springs to mind but there are probably far too many to remember. I seem to remember Tracey BB8 with the pink hair (deal wiv it!), as well as Laura BB8 (in the dressing gown) being culprits. And Lisa BB10 - she thought she'd be the first Mohawk-headed brummie lesbian to clinch the title and was genuinely shocked when she was (quite rightly) booted out.

I think Nikki BB7 is kinda guilty of this too - although arguably she picked things up again after the series ended. When Nikki re-entered the house after initially being evicted she thought of herself on the brink of superstardom, loved by millions, her own tv show in the pipeline - she'd waltz in, fall in love with Pete, win and grace the magazine covers for ever more - truth was, she was stuck up, irritating and 10 times more insufferable than her first stint! Her face when she was first out on finale will stay with me for EVER. It was hilarious.

Also Bubble BB2 - totally shocked that he'd been booted so early - his face told a 1000 stories - the main one being of a man who thought he'd walk into the final being booted within the first 3 weeks. Very satisfying.

I rant, I shall stop :P

Agree about Pauline. It also happened to Leslie on CBB14. They were both voted faves on launch night.

Tbh I was annoyed Bubble went over Paul. Jeez he was so dull, people just kept him in to keep Helen happy.

I was annoyed aswell. Paul was neither interesting nor popular enough to deserve to survive 4 head-to-head evictions, he was gormless, dull and getting increasingly arrogant as it went on.
Plus there were notable dirty tactics during this eviction where Bubble's eviction number was in some places pretending to be a hotline for the latest football news. Given the shock and closeness of the vote, it does put a dark cloud over it. But I am willing to accept that Bubble was not as popular as expected and people wanted to see where the Helen/Paul thing was leading, but still it kept Paul in so ugh!
