Lord Sugar has stepped down as a Labour Party peer:

Bad timing considering the party's about to be reformed.

At least he didn't announce this until after the election.

But really, it shows just where the Labour party has gone wrong when it has had to rely upon businessmen to endorse them.

I wonder if he will jump to the Conservatives.

If he does that, he shall lose all respect from me.

Considering his social views, I highly doubt he'd go anywhere near the Tories; he'd probably join the Liberal-Democrats long before he did that. That said, I think he'll just sit on the sidelines until Labour get a leader more favourably disposed towards business, then rejoin them.

It wouldn't be that much of suprise, he used to support the conservatives in the 80's. I always got the impression that he was happiest flip flopping to whichever party was in power.

He did indeed. A big fan of Thatcher. As I recall, he called the people protesting the ridiculous coverage of her death - renaming London, Thatcher was my favourite - as scum. If Jeremy Corbyn gets the nod, Sugar will presumably be finished with the Labour party for good.

Did he? Now that surprises me. Conservative policies make it very difficult for anyone from underprivileged backgrounds to do well for themselves. If Lord Sugar had been born with his family circumstances under today's Government, I imagine he would not make it the way he has. He's so supportive of young people doing well for themselves, especially if they are from underprivileged backgrounds like he was, I'm surprised he has any sympathy with the Conservatives at all.
