Question about Xbox 360
Hi
I have never owned an xbox and have been instructed to purchase one for my kids. A colleague recommended an Xbox360 (because they are much cheaper and the games are cheaper) but I am a bit confused. I see two main models / bundles for sale (Argos, Tesco): Xbox360 500GB Console and FIFA 15 bundle Xbox 360 4GB with Peggle 2 I have no interest in playing FIFA and my kids might enjoy Peggle. But, why is one only 4GB? That seems a bit crazy in comparison to a 500GB model for £40 more. Is the big hard drive only needed for saving movies etc? I have a drive for that already - it will purely be a games machine. Thanks! |

Some games will take up more than one disc and will asked to be installed on the internal memory. It is also possible to download games from the Xbox live marketplace and these will install to the internal memory.
A recent update issued will now allow you to plug an external HDD up to 2TB in size but I don't know if you can store and play games from there. |

More and more games require installation onto the internal hard drive. The 360 memory can be expanded using 2x usb drives but for the sake of 40 quid go for the 500gb version. Bear in mind that as time goes on more effort will be going into developing the xbox One so have a serious look at one of those but bear in mind 360 games cannot be played on it.

I agree, go for the 500Gb one - I wouldn't ever consider the non-HDD model.

I'm pretty certain they haven't made the 4GB model for at least the year, that one in Argos dates back to 2013. Pay the extra money and get the 500GB

How old are your kids?
If they are youngish then I would recommend one of the Nintendo machines, far more games aimed for kids than an xbox or playstation. |

Loads more for Nintendo especially if you have girls, I always struggled for games on the Xbox that interested her, never had that problem with Nintendo.
The Wii is a good console but just feel its had its time, Outs hasn't been plugged in for over a year now. Just can't be bothered to sell it, don't get much for them these days. OP, have a look as second hand consoles. I recently picked uk a 360 slim with 250GB HDD, kinect, second controller, headset and around 20 games for less than hundred quid off a local facebook ad. All looked as good as new, only think was they didn't have the original packaging. |

I install a LOT of TV's and see lot's of Wii's connected to the old ones, pretty well everyone says they haven't used them for years. |

Wii's were poor spec. back in their day, and they low quality and low resolution mean they look really poor these days.

Bit out of date, the Wii U has 1080p HDMI output and 6 channel PCM audio.
