I wonder which network they'll be using. Seems interesting though. They're looking for beta testers on their website so it's worth signing up at least.

They'll use the 3 network.

Seems like in the states they use VoIP for calls and a special app to use sms.
I guess this is a better business model than ovio etc who used advertising but VoIP over 3G isn't always that good.

I'll definitely pick up a sim when it's launched to see what they are like.

Why are all the union flags the wrong way up on their web site? Are they in distress?

Are these recent MVNOs on Three's network trying to prove that the market will stay competitive when MNOs are reduced from 4 to 3? Just seems like a change in Three's strategy as they haven't really been many Three MNO's in the past.

Looks like in the U.S they offer a $19.99 unlimited everything package, albeit only 3G data being unlimited (They only get 1gb of 4G / LTE in that package after which it reverts back to 3G)

https://forums.freedompop.com/discus...ng-plan#latest

There is also mention of (in the comments) a $15 Unlimited data only package, although no details given

I wonder if they'll offer something similar over here, and whether they will be pitched at the GBP equiv of $19.99 and $15 or in true UK "Treasure Island" style they'll covert to £15 and £19.99

It seems they intend to be multi-network.

The four-year-old company has teamed up with Three to offer customers the ability to send and receive calls, texts and internet data free of charge. A deal with a second, unknown UK mobile network is expected to be announced soon.

Customers will be switched between Three and the second network’s 3G and 4G services depending on which offers the best phone signal.

An interesting point from the Telegraph article that unused data will be rolled over to the next month. That makes it much more useful in some aspects. If they teamed up with Vodafone/o2 that would give them the best of both worlds 2g and 3g wise so looks as though I may pick one up to try it out.

A bit of competition is always good though.

You might want to register on their website then, it appears initially it will be an invite system to get a sim.

Some of these efforts in the US involve a lot of offloading onto wifi where possible, presumably to avoid having to pay the network operators. I'm not sure if freedompop is one of them, but their competitors are
