1) It launched on an unusual Tuesday night
2) The series was only announced two weeks in advance...
3) ...meaning far less publicity
4) The housemates were already revealed days beforehand
5) Viewers may still be bitter about last year's horrific final.

Apart from reason 1 I would say

Poor promotion but the first few hours made up for that last night

Makings of a good series if TPTB don't muck it all up further into the series

As launch nights go it wasn't too bad. They knocked off Emma giving a tour of the house before they went in, and a lot of her interviews were awful.
I'm just glad Mr. Showbiz was a goner early doors as I was giving if oh FFS every time his mug was on screen.
Hope there's no meddling like last year but I doubt it.

There was meddling right from the start what with Pie Face getting his three immunities and the other lad having to do all his noms face to face

I didn't even realise it was on until a few days ago and I suspect many others were the same - though most people probably couldn't care less. I think that's the most important factor, most people just don't like Big Brother any more.

It wouldn't have mattered if it was the greatest launch night in BB history (which it wasn't), if viewers couldn't be arsed to watch in the first place.
