I was a bit surprised to discover that Virgin Mobile do not charge their customers anything to receive calls when they are roaming in the EU or the other EEA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), and also when roaming in Switzerland and Turkey. It applies to both contract and PAYG customers.

Pay Monthly / Pay by DD rates - PAYG rates

This is just something I noticed recently rather than being a new announcement - I've no idea how long it's been the case (so apologies if it's something everyone already knew about). Leaving aside Three's Feel At Home offer for selected countries, I don't think any of the other networks provide free incoming calls as standard when roaming in Europe?

Could prove useful to those who are often abroad in Europe, and wish to be able to freely receive calls.

(P.S. To be clear this doesn't apply to other non-EEA countries in Europe such as Bosnia, Andorra, Faroe Islands etc)
