The BBC should re-release The End of Time on DVD, edited as a long movie

I'm just about to re-watch The End of Time on DVD, having not watched the two episodes for over a year. It suddenly came to me that IMO, it would be excellent to have both parts edited together so that they make a long made-for TV Movie.

I've got the DW Monster Collection: Master DVD, which has the two episodes of TEOT on one disc, as supposed to the original release that separated the episodes onto two DVDs.

What do people think about my idea? Do you think that a long TV movie version should happen on DVD, or will it mess with the story?

Tricky one - it's a story that is definitely a game of two halves. Would they jar when put together in close proximity? Would it add anything to the experience?

I can see how there might be a market for two-parters edited as movies. However, The End of Time would be quite far down my list of stories which deserve such a release.

I really really really can't see the point. Even a little bit. Just shut your eyes and get someone else to press 'next episode' for you. Should work.

I have the flyer they gave away in the sun a few years ago. I can watch end of time 1 and 2 and the eleventh hour in one interrupted viewing.

I remember some of the first Doctor Who VHS's to be released were of the edited down, omnibus versions that were created for some of the stories.

It's probably blasphemous to say so but I preferred the edited version of Genesis of the Daleks to the full 6 episode version!

I can see some millage in creating an edited version of The End of Time. They can cut out 10's farewell tour for starters.

No thanks, it was bad enough on the first showing,

Why this story in particular? Over the last 5 years, The End of Time has been released in the following formats:
Single DVD / Blu-Ray
Winter Specials set
Complete Specials set
Newspaper freebie with The Eleventh Hour
Regeneration set
Partwork magazine Issue 56

So, do we really need a seventh release with some new editing?

I'm torn between these two opinions with a liberal sprinkling of apathy.

If they were to do that, I'd rather they did 3D post-conversion on it and released the newly-edited End Of Time as a 3D re-release.

My own personal edit would be a lot shorter than what we got, must admit! Had it's moments, but was very underwhelmed, especially with part one. A fine Doctor deserved a better farewell, IMHO.
