Anyone with the Motorola Moto G LTE XT1039 been updated to Android Lollipop yet? Bought mine new and unlocked on eBay last year and put in a Three SIM (and despite being advertised as sold by a UK company it arrived from Hong Kong). Not sure if it is a carrier dependent update from Three or related to handset country of origin.

It will be from the country of origin. Doesn't matter what sim you put in it.

You can maybe get do a Beta Test for Lollipop.

I'm still waiting for mine to be updated.

Someone posted this on another thread a while back, which basically says that they will not upgrade to the early version of Lollipop, but upgrade directly from KitKat to Lollipop 5.1. Still no idea of when this will happen.

There was an

Snip... We have starting a number of test soaks with 5.1 in a number of regions and hope to be fully deploying the upgrades soon.

It wasn't dated so it's still not clear when it will happen. I'd just like to know what benefits Lollipop has that Kitkat doesn't.

The next update might be called M&M's? How sweet.

Brazil just got the 5.1 update so hopefully it shouldn't be long now.

Not the 5.1.1 update though, not sure what the difference is.

Still waiting here, have an XT1039 Moto G LTE 1st gen.

Had a hardware problem (phone dead, would not switch on) with my Moto G LTE which I purchased from Phones 4U before they went under. This had to go back to Motorola for the warranty to be honoured, the first replacement arrived with a non-working SD card reader, am now on a second replacement which appears to be working OK. Took Motorola about 7 working days to process each repair/replace cycle.

Just had that as well.
Had one a while ago, got all excited for nothing, as update didn't arrive, so not getting excited this time.
Talk about teasing us and dragging it out.
This lollipop update seems to be causing them a few headaches, hope all glitches are sorted this time.

I've disabled the Motorola update services App on my Moto G, more than happy with 4.4.4 kitkat just now.

Apparently I'm not a select user, but hey ho.

But my phone is Tesco GB (21.11.56.peregrine_tescogb.tescogball.en.GB)

Well, I went through the check for updates procedure, I'm on EE, but it says I'm up to date with 4.4.4, no option to move to 5.1 yet....

Might want to hold off updating for a while. Your battery life will become shit.

I have a retail (retgb) version bought from Amazon, on a Three prepay SIM, and no sign of the update yet.

Well it took about 20mins to download and install. Kept all my emails and bookmarks etc, lost a few shortcuts but they're easy to put back. Seems quicker, preferred the white text on black and not keen on the orange theme to emails. Apart from that, can't see much difference.

Doesn't 5.1 fix quite a lot of things (as well as few nice tweaks like how it shows Wi-Fi connections)? 5.1.1 is supposed to be almost perfect, and seems pretty good on my Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013, the 2012 model is still as crap as ever!).

Yes, I'd imagine so. Motorola has had a good track record of late, and the only reason there was a delay was down to the fact that Google released a number of flawed Lollipop updates - and left many manufacturers wondering what to do.

Give users Lollipop but with huge battery draining issues and memory leaks, or hold on? Not helped by each update supposedly fixing the problems and then, well, not fixing them.

I do hope 5.1.1 is finally there, and by the time we get Android M nearer Christmas (which I also expect the Moto E and G will get) these issues are a thing of the past.

But history suggests we'll just have more problems.

Right, when I first got this phone in January, Motorola tech support told me Lollipop was due in about a week, it's been a long wait. The Moto forums said most makers update phones for about 18 months but some of them don't really speak English so there may be some confusion there.

If the specs of the 3rd gen Moto G 4G LTE are true and its price is about the same as previous models, I'll probably get that one.

The battery level is 90% now so I'll check that again later today to see if it's a problem. A battery % level is in the pull down notification now.

So far so good, touch wood.

Android 5.1 Moto XT1039 update; Well about a day in and there's no problem here with battery life so far, took about 1% of the battery overnight in nine hours. The only other difference is in the notification for lack of signal, is now a very slim exclamation mark, both in wi-fi and network icons.

Well updated yesterday, all seems pretty good. Would have like the new white folder look that android have 5.X, but I can live without it.
