Yet again, an independent, strong black woman comes under attack on these forums. She is direct, forthright and honest...yet she has been accused of being sleazy, perverted and a menace. Despite the fact we have seen much much worse from both male and female contestants in the past. Remember Denise welsh PULLING DOWN someones pants? Yet she went on to win the show???

I expect her to be evicted as soon as she is up. Sadly even in 2015, racism rears its ugly head.

How do you know the people complaining didn't complain about the other things?

I stopped watching after Denise did that and still think she should have got thrown out over it.

Here we go again with the same old nonsense and it's only Day 2!!!

Are people not allowed to not like HMs who happen to be non-white??

Many people find this kind of behaviour/language objectionable, while others don't - it's as simple as that. I see no reason to assume that it's driven by racism, sexism, homophobia, or any other form of prejudice.

I normally get really weary with threads like these but I can't help but feel that the public just do not know how to take a black gay woman. In this instance I agree with OP.

She made a joke about p***y. Big deal. People need to get out a bit more of they're getting all hot under the collar and offended by that.

Subtle and subliminal racism towards people assumed to be making attacks on the basis of race?

Unsubtle and overt actually.

I couldn't give a crap what colour her skin is, but if I was in that house and she asked me if I liked pussy within five minutes of meeting me, I'd have a problem.

I agree if a guy white or black young or old had grabbed a girl the said way and asked if she liked cock he would have been thrown out so fast and hard he wouldn't have landed yet .

As well as been called a potential rapist and may even be talking to the police.

Yet again, any criticism of black female HMs is stifled by certain people playing the race card. Were Pauline and Toyah also merely 'independent and strong' and only criticised for their race? No, they were, to say the least, divisive characters and both were initially very popular before revealing themselves to be delusional, belligerent nutters.

The only criticisms I've seen of Adjoa are that she's trying to shock and impress people with her candidness regarding her sexuality and that she's been sleazy towards Jade. Both are entirely pertinent and justified criticisms. And she isn't the only person to have received criticism so far. Cristian has been ridiculed far more than her. Danny has been called a sleaze for his attitude to the twins. Joel and Harriet were immediately rounded on for being UKIP supporters. Chloe was called an obnoxious chav. But because 'Queen Adjoa' (as several people instantly dubbed her, I expect for reasons of race) is black she is supposed to be immune.

The reason many people (myself included) have criticised her isn't even purely because of the sleazy nature of her actions, but because of the double standard when it comes to women. If it was a straight man feeling up a woman without invitation, or a gay man doing the same to another man, it would be a different story. Just look at how people responded to Ken Morley in the last CBB, and he didn't even touch anyone. While the American guy got kicked out for feeling the model's tits.

I know it's burning a hole in your pocket, but do try to hold onto that race card for the time being.

That's not what happened. Adjoa said to Jade "you don't want to, like, feel their pussy and that?". Jade said "what" and then Adjoa then said "you don't want to feel their pussy?". Jade then grabbed Adjoa's forearms and then started laughing in a shocked way. The only time Adjoa made contact with her was when she was touching the edge of Jade's knickers, and this was when she was talking about something before the pussy bit.

Oh for heaven's sake. Do we have to have these ridiculous accusations made every year?

I don't like her. Her colour has nothing to do with it.

What does "strong black woman" actually mean?

She was going round talking about touchng peope's pussy's. She is quite frankly bizarre and seems borderline sinister to me. Whether she was black or white it's meaningless - it's the things she says/ her actions that are causing the reaction.

And what of the people who are both not an Adjoa fan and also felt that Denise Welch was wrong for pulling the girl's shorts down?

Makosi is one of my favourite all time BB HM's btw.

I quite like Adjoa, she has the potential to be a good and interesting HM.

She was still sleazy with Jade though.

Is it not more discriminatory to jump to the conclusion of race just because somebody is getting negative comments?

I mean I hate Kanye West but it has zero to do with his skin colour...it's because he's an arrogant ass.

It's possible to dislike someone of a different skin colour without race playing a part in it. So why jump to that conclusion?

Yes, that's what I saw, too. It's important to remember what actually happened. Adjoa was quite full-on, and to be honest, I found it more than a bit uncomfortable. I wouldn't have liked to have been spoken to like that by a stranger. However, it was hardly the virtual assault that I see some describing. It will be interesting to see what Adjoa does next. Will this become a long-forgotten memory as she backs off and stops trying to shock her way into making an impression? Or will she keep it up and push the boundaries to genuinely unacceptable limits?

It's a racial stereotype, ironically.

Oh, I thought it was subtle and subliminal racism against white people this week, I really need to read my 'how to be offended on other peoples behalf ' manual more thoroughly. I Have my homophobia, racism and sexism cards at the ready for tonight's episode. I have put my ageism card away as simon has left, I did have my bodyism card out, but realised hating fat people is ok in society so put it away also. lets get offended!!!!!!!!!
