I believe it said Odi was six years old and considered obsolete (he's certainly only still functioning cause his owner is an expert roboticist). It may be that newer more advanced models would last longer but it's probably more likely that the manufacturers would want you to replace them even quicker than that.

If she is a synth she's one who has been programmed to believe she is a Human (or is pretending to be human) as she refers to Synths as "Them" and not "Us".
