I missed that !! What was she doing to look like a synth ??

Her eyes and movement when we first saw her in the car (I'm sure some other people on the thread commented on it at the time). Then she spoke in a human way (but it also sounded a bit exaggerated to me) but as someone says I'm probably over analysing because I'm having trouble understanding the concept. I don't have a lot of patience for deliberately leading the audience down the wrong route when it's already confusing enough as it is.

For this I'd say you weren't - I think this was something we were supposed to see and make our initial assumption before getting the 'ha ha you were so wrong' treatment. Surely everybody either thought she was a robot or at least furrowed their brows at the possibility? Edit: and I think the moment of uncertainty was deliberately kept short too (to avoid annoyance), and was only there to get us into the right way of thinking, i.e. suspect everyone of everything and work back from there.

I think it's entirely reasonable to make assumptions based on what we see on the screen - my point about over-analysing was more to do with where I would personally draw the line as regards looking for double bluffs and extra plot twists. The nice thing about being able to re-watch is for those 'huh?' moments when I *should* have been looking for the double-triple-cross switcheroo find the walnut under the cup bit. It's a good enough production that a re-watch doesn't make it all fall apart.

I believe it said Odi was six years old and considered obsolete (he's certainly only still functioning cause his owner is an expert roboticist). It may be that newer more advanced models would last longer but it's probably more likely that the manufacturers would want you to replace them even quicker than that.



If she is a synth she's one who has been programmed to believe she is a Human (or is pretending to be human) as she refers to Synths as "Them" and not "Us".

Well you're going to think I'm really over doing it here - I keep replaying the opening because there is a synth in the corner of the screen, just before we see Gemma Chan look up at the moon, that looks very like Jill Halfpenny to me. I must be seeing things - or maybe they just recycled the actors to fill the screen!

My head is making up all sorts - was she switched/copied when she had the accident? Or am I just so ignorant on the genre that I'm going off on on totally the wrong thread... . Just say the policewoman is a synth and even her partner who works with her every day can't tell - couldn't Jill Halfpenny be a double and he also can't tell? Was the accident a cover for something? Once you set up a proposition where nothing is necessarily what it seems then everything is up for grabs?

That is quite vague behaviour for you to say she isn't human!, she is a cop! You said before.............
I don't know how you can say she was "clearly shown" as a synth, I just seen her doing police work.

It was the bit in epsiode 2 before she seemed to click into human mode when Neil Maskell came out of the house. I'm just struggling to see what the point of doing something like that is - but as someone said (was it you?) perhaps the point is this genre is more like a spy story and deliberately leads viewers the wrong way.


It was the other way around wasn't it? Old man nearly terminated Odi with a hammer. I wasn't sure if we were supposed to think something about Odi when he suddenly remembered about the bee just as he was about to get his head smashed in.

That'll teach me for paying him any mind.
