I'm impressed by the actors playing the synths but I would like to know who much of their movement and "expression" is actually CGI
I'd suspect little if any...

Going to synth school

I don't get why people are surprised they can recognize Mia from her base code. Her base code would be what makes Mia Mia. All the advanced synths would have radically different base code from regular synths but, in any case, all the advanced synths would probably be intimately familiar with each others' base code and know every single character and line of it. It's like showing someone a photograph of a loved one and being surprised they can recognize them when faced with all those pixcels!

Not sure why the old man let Odi drive. Given that he's on his last legs that seemed like a pretty dangerous move!

I wondered if it was maybe a test to see if he was still capable.

Also, The Prof refuses to accept that Odi is faulty.

I've seen the Swedish version.

I've never seen the original. Is it good?

Sorry, but I have gone back through the first episode and cannot find this converation where Laura refers to Anita as Mia. Could you enlighten me?
It's at 39:34. Laura & Anita are talking about appreciating music & Laura says "No, Mia. Do you think anything of it?"

I wonder if it's a slip or deliberate?

I think if you look you will see 'Dr Max' attaching the wire from the light fitting to some connector thing in Leo's side - and I'm sure his eyes went slightly funny when he was zapped...?
Thank you, I missed the 'connector thing' I thought he had attached the wire directly to a flap of skin. Admittedly my mind did tend to wander a little during Eps 1 and 2 but Sunday's episode kept me more focussed.

You might think that - but I think it's the slow steady but above all precisely scheduled approach that makes it work - no pauses for crosswords or daytime chat shows, any interruptions don't suffer from 'annoyance delay' as you take a few moments to swear at the phone (etc).

And depending on what sort of cake and how hot the oven still is from the earlier charcoal, even a normal-ish cake can take less than 20 minutes so that part wasn't entirely outrageous.
The cake I didn't have a problem with as machines do most of the work for us anyway - mixer, oven, done. While I do take on board your comment about interruptions, Anita is being interrupted all the time! And she plays with the children plus has her own time out at night.

I suppose my point was less about how much she could accomplish in a given amount of time, but how difficult the synths' rhythm would be for us to adapt to. seejay's example is a good one, when we see Anita wiping the oven down I doubt there are many humans who could stand by and not take over the job in reality. Perhaps I'm just too working class

Just been having a forum catch-up to see what people are continuing to make of Humans. I'm amazed at how many posts have appeared on here since Sunday night!

Looking at post #563 (and onwards into the #570s) I get the impression from the logged time of the post that there are people out there who write posts at the same time as they're watching the programme!

Surely that's smart technology gone raving mad. Can't you wait until the end of the programme before playing with your smart-whatever? I'm so glad I don't have one of those! If I did, it would be turned off at that time of night anyway .. after all, can't it wait until the morning?

Having said that, I think this series is shaping up very nicely .. and I'm really really fond of Anita, but slightly scared of Niska (in my dreams you understand!) - I'm so glad she didn't hurt the 'good guy', although it was touch and go whether she was going to compute correctly whether he was lying to her or not.

Like others on here I've been wondering if the female police officer is a synth .. she does seem to move and speak in a slightly stilted fashion.

And what was that Headcracker website that Mattie sent Anita's core data to? How come Leo and Max were on the same website as her? Surely that site would be really deep in the web. Is Mattie going to be implicated somehow in the synth's downfall?

It's a website created for people who want to learn how to hack synths (and presumably other computers) and to share their exploits and stories.

Leo and Max were runnig a program to search the entire web for any references to Mia. They weren't actually logged on to that site specifically. It's to be expected that they have computer skills or resources of their own.

I wait for the ad breaks before I post stuff online about the show. I do find it strange others don't do the same because you never have to wait long for a ad break anyway.

I'm guessing that Mattie, like Laura, will come to accept Anita. Anita will become Mia again and find out about Niska's murder, resulting in a big confrontation between Anita/Mia and Niska with Mattie helping out by hacking Niska.

I've seen the Swedish version.
Please go away with your I've seen the Swedish version

What do you mean by 'version'? Who says Humans is derived from any version, Swedish or otherwise?

As has been posted countless times on this thread already, can we not just watch and enjoy Humans for what it is and stop harping on about some foreign programme that most of us won't or can't see, however similar it may or not be!

I've seen the Scandinavian versions of the Dragon Tattoo trilogy of films (and bloody good they are too), but if an English speaking adaptation is ever made and we get to see it on mainstream TV, I certainly shan't be banging on about 'the original'!

You've kind of demonstrated my point here! Why post at allduring the show? Surely things will transpire before the end that will nullify anything you've said to that point ... or does your smart-thingy have so much control of your life that you can't bear not to play with it for more than ten minutes at a time?

... Niska's murder ...
When did this happen? I can't remember seeing Niska killed. I hope you haven't unwittingly unveiled a spoiler .. I really like Niska and hope she survives.

I think they mean the murder Niska committed on the old guy, not that she was murdered.

Well she remade the cake in the time it took for the mother to read the story. That was pretty quick.
Slowest bedtime story ever.

I definitely could, but I loathe cleaning the oven. If I had a robot who could do it for me I wouldn't care if it took them all day.

Why is it raving mad? It's actually quite fun to do. While I haven't done it (so far) with Humans I have with other shows. I use my laptop though, not a "smart-whatever". It's really not any different to having a chat with someone in the room with you whilst you watch a program, or do you sit in complete silence in your house until the end of the show?

How about you watch things your way and let other people watch in the way they want without making patronising comments.

I'm talking about Niska's murder of the eccentric creep she encountered when she was a Synth prostitute...

Some people like to be 'first' too and experience some kind of hollow victory. Never understood the desire myself as I prefer to talk to the people I'm in the room with or go out and make a cup of tea. Not only that, I'd feel pretty daft to say something I was adamant about my theory, only for the same episode to completely debunk my theory five minutes later from what has just happened on-screen.

Some people even post the word 'first' and it hardly ever works because somebody gets in before them.

Maybe this is a matter of technique (or to emphasise the slow persistent methodical thing) - the firm slow method of clearing oily charcoal is very effective but is really tiring and the frantic scrubbing allows bit by bit visible progress with numerous breaks as you choke on the fumes. Speculation because I have never burnt anything in the oven, honest
Or the slowness is a cunning subterfuge (I do like that phrase) so that we are properly surprised when the fly is neatly speared by the toasting fork from the other end of the room.

Perhaps I'm just too working class
Obviously you have misunderstood that the synth is to replace all those pesky butlers and housemaids that just complain too much when you water down the gruel

I've just looked back at this and she doesn't say Mia. She says "no, do you think anything of it". There isn't even a cut between no and do.

That was the 4od version. Unless the broadcast version was different?

Really don't like any of Laura's kids or husband actually. Mattie only slightly redeemed by not being as miserable this week!
