Part of it may be the cost of the 'synth school' that they set up to train all the actors playing synths, including extras, on how to move etc as a synth. That must have cost a fortune!
Things I'd like to see in the final episode:
Laura being a lawyer coming into its own; perhaps negotiating with the corporation on behalf of the synths? Sentience would be quite a money-spinner! Perhaps legally defending NIska and/or Karen, or seeking to establish their legal rights as persons.
We find out what Joe's job is - we know he has one, in an office environment, and he hasn't been replaced by a synth, so not simple admin. And that he redeems himself with some heroic act, preferably saving Mia. Also that he transfers his status as primary user to Mia herself; probably symbolic, but a nice gesture.
Mia admitting she was in control during her and Joe's intimacy (lots of hints at the time and subsequently that that was the case). Forced to admit it to stop Niska going postal on him when
she finds out what happened! Interesting as to why (same reasons as Karen?).
Hobbs telling Fred that he bugged him and let him think he'd escaped so he'd lead them to all the others, finishing with 'you thought you were superior to us, that's why you underestimated me'! We find out Hobbs is actually interested in immortality; he wants to upload his mind into a synth body.
Pete reaffirming he is still Karen's friend and bringing her down from some desperate act partly by reminding her that she's a police officer - 'and a damn good one at that' - and they protect the community not threaten it. Also bringing the whole sentient synth matter into the public domain by dint of a police raid - on live TV - to release Leo and Joe 'together with their items of property'.
Niska and Karen both submitting themselves to justice. Possible references to Somersett's case. Guilty but sentence suspended subject to probation, community service and residing with trusted adult humans. Sophie as star witness for Niska, who leaves the court and faces the press with her in her arms.
Some other shocking, surprising, tragic and happy events!
