Really enjoyed this. It reminded me of Ex Machina, which was a brilliant film. It also has a Black Mirror vibe.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Emily Berrington is in it. I saw her in a play in 2012 (and got to meet her afterwards!) and she's a great actress.

How ironic Krishnan Guru Murthy interviewing someone about robots.

Yes it's very similar to Ex Machina. Hope their robot doesn't end up doing what that one did.

This episode was a little slow but it's a pilot so that's to be expected. I enjoyed it though, the ending was particularly interesting as I didn't expect anything like that to happen with Anita or at least a few episodes. Could she be taking the daughter to protect her because she perceives the older daughter to be a threat? That's my first thought.

I think she perceives the mother as a threat.

It's the gun scene that made me think it but she could perceive the mother as a threat too.

Especially the way she looked at the mum when she shouted at her daughter to go to bed.

I enjoyed it - I thought the acting was good and it all reminded me of old 50s, 60s, 70s, Sci-Fi stuff.

Also the creepiness of it reminded me of Les Revenants.

Lets hope it continues as it started.

Anita keeps seeing someone drowning in a car (I think) - did the mum kill her parents or something?

Thought it was really good, although it freaked my husband out a bit (he only caught the end).

Very well put. It may have played better if the viewer was left in doubt as to whether Anita was one of the "evolved" cyborgs. Still, not enough to ruin it for me, a decent start and I can see myself watching the series unless it takes a nosedive.

I really enjoyed the show, probably the best new programme I've watched all year. But I do agree that all the tension and mystery with Anita was dissipated far too quickly. I'd have preferred a slow-burn where she gradually becomes attached to the young girl. But it was still good and I'm really intrigued to see where this goes.

We thought that too after seeing a couple of the actors from Utopia in this programme.
Pretty good show, intriguing, will stick with it.

A familiar theme of course but well done so far. It'll be interesting to see how it develops e.g. how the pace might vary.

When Laura and Anita were talking in the kitchen, Laura called the robot Mia. This is the name the others call her, but Laura would not know that.

The main strength of the plot was, or should have been, Anita's creepy half-human, half machine vibe, and the tension of trying to work out whether she was sinister or not.

However, that was all dissipated very early on by the cosy hike in the woods, the cosy romantic storyline and the fact that the intelligent cyborgs are all quite obviously the good guys.

Yes that ruined what was otherwise building to something quite nicely. Unfortunately I was not too impressed with it as I had just watched Ex-Machina the night before, which is streets ahead of this.

I've just finished watching this and I quite like it so far. As others have said, there is a bit of a Black Mirror/Utopia vibe to it . Roll on next Sunday.

↗↗. Only very few of us lucky ones will have seen the original.

I always thought that hapless Roger in the original reminded me of Mark Addy.

I was looking forward to it, but I didn't like it. It was annoying right from the beginning because the idiotic husband bought Anita without consulting the wife first.

I didn't like episode 1 but I reckon I will probably still watch episode 2 just in case it gets better. I'm sort-of hoping that the Synths will become rogue, will rebel and kill millions of humans. It would be worth it just to annoy the smug husband.
