I was hoping that we might see more of a consciousness that wasn't 'human' or 'wannabe human'. Why would any intelligent and physically much stronger being want to be like us emotionally?

Humans hasn't moved on from the kind of issues Data used to throw up in Star Trek (TNG)

The off button should have been the first thing that 'conscious' synths modified

I want to see some Odi and Mattie shipping

Karen said to her partner:" I'll never give you a child". Then she came back home with child synth. I wonder will they be family with kid now.

She didn't come home with 'Sam', Pete did.
Looks like it's going to be Sam and Karen with Pete on the sidelines as she's only staying now because there's a 'child'
Poor old Pete he's not doing will with his Women.

As an aside yet again Man gets ousted from the shared Bed and ends up on the Sofa, well he let her have the Bed.
I still don't understand how the bloke always seems to end up out of the shared bed.
It's even worse in this case as she's a synth and doesn't need a bed, it's just become their convention that she behaves like a human as much as possible.
Should have stuck her and the kid in the cupboard

I thought the scene between Odi and the priest in the confessional was wonderful. "I have just become self-aware" is not perhaps an unusual question after all.

The latest episode felt a lot like 'filler' to me. Not much happened.

I'm enjoying it still. There are a few cliches; synths want to be like humans and humans want to be like synths. I hope all many subplots are resolved and not left hanging.

This whole real kid synths/fake kid synths is really starting to annoy me, don't know why they've gone down this route with the storyline.
Season 2 on the whole really has been a let down compared to the excellent first season. I'd be quite happy for it to be cancelled now.

It really isn't, Season 2 has been dire compared to Season 1. If you want to see how AI really should be portrayed, watch Westworld.

It's interesting to compare how they are covering similar ground to Westworld regarding what is really life and consciousness as far as humans understand it. Enjoying both though both have dragged a bit.

For the seraphim storyline it would have been a good twist if the schoolgirl faker had turned out to be a synth after all rather than the way they had the cop guy uncover it.

Surely you don't mean Renie, do you? Maybe I'm missing something, but I was under the strong impression that she's a child seraph, especially when it came to the bedroom scene with Toby, where she showed him the 18+ benefits card and he shied away from her.

Humans could be like Westworld without the sex and extreme violence.

Guess you missed the bit where she explained about her dad being away with his young girlfriend. And Toby asking her to speak to Sophie about her acting like a synth. And her eating the sweets. And the explanation right at the start about the school telling the students they have to respect her life choices.

Granted, it doesn't seem to have the momentum of the first season/series but, regardless, it's still hugely enjoyable for me. Not sure how they're going to conclude all the many story strands that are currently on going, but I'm interested in finding out.

Mia, Niska and Hester have quite distinct personalities. Are they products of their environment I wonder?

But she was eating wasn't she?

It really IS. Your opinion is subjective - just like mine

So just because YOU don't like it, YOU want it cancelled! Wow, what arrogance

Fair enough if you're not enjoying it, but others are.

Having not seen Westworld since Yul Brynner, I'll have to stick with the most accurate representation of AI in the series at the moment being the one locked in a box with a nice screensaver, i.e. 'V' - the one constructed from scratch (and given memories to sift through) to create the mind and then get a body as the housing, rather than the other way round.

Everything else is a cunning simulation of dramatic gasps, machines adapting to copy non-essential traits like saying 'ow' when moving body parts like hands from damage-causing areas like flames though one might argue that it is entirely logical to include this as camouflage.

Which I presume is pretty good in this day and age of people watching stuff on anything but their TVs on the night of the actual broadcast!

All your explanations are totally feasible for a scenario where Renie is a seraph. If she's actually pretending to be a synth (let alone a seraph), how come the synth blue eyes?

I doubt any child seraph would have been sold with an 18+ card. In this country even cartoons of child sex are illegal. More likely she's human and made the card herself to give herself permission to have sex.

Blue eyes, probably the same way the actors are doing it, contact lens.
So Renie is Synth, pretending to be human, pretending to be a Synth.
In this multiple layers she's pretending to eat sweets, which she did when Toby wasn't there to see her, which is a human thing as synths don't need to eat.

I think you're over thinking it.

I'm not sure if you're being serious or if we're just watching the show in a very different way. She doesn't have blue eyes she has green. Contacts presumably; the same way Niska covered hers up. Even Sophie knows Renie isn't a synth and asked how she gets her eyes like that.

It's good for Channel 4, but it's 2m down on the last series.

Will all depend on what the US ratings are on AMC network, if they get decent enough viewer numbers, then they will probably greenlight a third series and Channel 4 will likely agree as it is a showpiece series for them like Indian Summers was.

Odi remains disabled because, as some of us have already mentioned, this is a series about humans, not synths or robots. Al of the issues: disability, loss of a child, social inequality, dementia, trust and betrayal that are explored are about the human condition. Odi is the best example of this.

Shame, but I think it may be to do with the different time of the year it is shown, plus it was mainly up against "I'm a Celebrity", which despite being an awful show (IMO), I realise it is popular!

Agree with this. There is STILL milage in the show....
