Harriet's view of 'normal'
Enidan

Only people who live on council estates are normal? She obviously is unable to cope with the wider world. I don't like her one bit.

Common as muck, but I feel sorry for her. A lot of then in there are quite successful and all she's done is worked in a cafe. I think she's sort of gone in there and realised "s***, I should have done more with my life".

Yes, she would hate me because I speak properly and then set her pit bull on me.

I get what she means by it. "Normal" is open to interpretation so who are you to say she is wrong? Is there really such a thing as a "normal" person?

She's my early fav.

She's 22 ffs

Welcome to 2015 generation where everyone has to make out their lives are so great, fantastic & fulfilling. A Facebook check-in & picture to match. The pressure some kids must feel to appear 'successful' is horrible.

I like her , but then i liked Sophie too and she was subjected to the same unpleasantness and snobbery.

She's struggling to cope in there, in my opinion. Her ability to formulate her emotions vocally seems to be weak. I think what she might be suggesting is there are very few people in there who meet the criteria of what she has come to know as normality in her world. Maybe? I don't dislike her for that.

She might not have had the opportunity, I certainly never.

A job is a job. Why should she feel bad for working? Maybe she doesn't have the qualifications for a career.

I just thought the point of her breakdown in the diary room was a bit silly. She'd been talking to Nick - what exactly has he achieved Apart from breakfast in bed

Also both Nick and Cristian were trying to comfort her and include her so I felt a bit nonplussed with her reaction. She seemed if anything to be rejecting them.

To her yes, that's her normal. That's largely all she's ever known.

Yes I would agree with that. I don't like her use of the eff word every other word but ATM she is inoffensive. I think she is a bit intimidated by some of the people in there who are projecting a more affluent and cultured and experienced versions of themselves that I suggest are probably exaggerated to say the least.
