Nik Kershaw A great artist or pretty average
I have been watching Sound of the Eighties on the red button and they were showing an interview of him and showing some of the great songs he did in the past He seems a nice guy and very likeable I was wondering whether he was a great artist of his time or a bit overrated

Neither really. He had a great run of singles and a couple of decent albums, that at the time i really liked. He could certainly turn out a good pop song (he has written for others too) and probably deserved to have a few more songs chart over the latter part of his career.

His recent stuff has been good. The album "15 Minutes" in particular.

Hit and miss for me....obviously very talented and had some success, but he just wasn;t someone who particularly appealed to me....his voice bugged me if I'm honest.

I would say underrated if anything. He wrote some of the best pop songs of the 80s. A talented guy for sure.

Loved all his 80s tunes wouldn't be good is my all time favourite 80s tune, human racing was a quality album, just seemed to die out after 85 bit like Howard jones,
Nik carried on writing several songs including the well known quality one hit wonder the one and only by chesney hawkes. |

He is underrated. his albums in the 80s were brilliant, I still listen to them now, he had foresight(roses) and compassion( save the whale).
His album a couple of years ago sounded just as fresh, he is one act from the 80s that I will always listen to. |

I think he is a superb artist and an extremely underrated songwriter.
My favourite of his is 'Elizabeth's Eyes' from 1989. |

I think he's okay for the most part actually. I have the Expanded Edition of 'Human Racing', a great album!

Saw Nik on a BBC show about Pop Stars - he was being interviewed about his experiences in the early days of his pop stardom. He came across as being a very nice fellow, and he looked great too.
