Taking fashion tips from the 10th rather than 11th Doctor by the looks of it.

The Rip Hunter comic books are actually quite similar to Doctor Who - and predate the show. They were first published in the 1950s, and Rip travelled through time with three companions, just like the First Doctor.

The show has changed one thing - he never stated where he was from in the comics, yet TV Rip specifically said he was from London, which was probably written in to explain his accent.

Nice to see Rory carrying on the 11th Doctor's legacy. But what's happened to Amy?

Hasn't she become an evil skin-head somewhere in Hollywood?

Nebula in Guardians Of The Galaxy, yes. Marvel as opposed to DC, though.

Heh. Rory and Amy wound up on different sides of a vast alternate-universe spanning war! DC vs. Marvel!

The Ninth and Tenth Doctors are also Marvel villains (Malekith in movie Thor: The Dark Word and Purple Man in upcoming Netflix TV show AKA Jessica Jones). Oh, and Clara is in Captain America: The First Avenger. She was Bucky's girlfriend.

Would that lead to a divorce?

Tennant was also a Harry Potter villain, which was quite strange to see at the time, because I remember it was out in November 2005 when the last thing the last thing we'd seen in the show was the regeneration scene, then in harry potter Tennant turned up as a villain wearing a leather jacket, just as we had last seen him in who. It was as though the doctor had turned evil!

On the subject of the trailer in question, the show is a third piece of the dc tv universe which currently includes the shows Arrow and the flash, both of which are really good. I think this one looks good too, but then again anything with time travel tends to get my attention.

I think the episode of the flash where he accidentally goes back in time while trying to stop s typhoon, was one of the best visualisations of time travel and timeliness I've seen for some time, a concept well told

With Barrowman as a villain, and Alex Kingston as the mother of superheros

Wow so if you appeared in Doctor Who recently you're mostly likely to appear in some super hero show? Wonder if Freema or Billie will appear in one. I doubt Catherine Tate will though!

Does it seem like the TV world is getting saturated with Marvel/DC? How many representations of each superhero do we need!

Apart from Superman there haven't been any Marvel or DC properties that have had more than one English language live action series version so the answer to your question is plenty.

Arthur, travel on far but remember where your home is.

It's all about trying to cross-link 'franchises' so that conventions can appeal to more people.

It's the same with the Doctor Who-inspired music in Star Trek whenever Mickey Smith appeared opposite Sherlock.

Or Q appearing in Torchwood. Or James Bond in Star Wars. Or Checkhov in Babylon 5.

It's like a deliberate form of typecasting for the benefit of the producers.

I read a more prosaic explanation, simply that the Flash showrunners were big Dr Who fans, hence the hiring of Barrowman and now Darvill.
