Transfering apps from pc to tablet
Anonimus
15-05-2015
I use my HP Stream 7 for writing but what else I want to do with it is transfer my graphics and photo editing software (Paintshop Pro, Xara Photo And Graphic designer) and music and video editing software. I've tried it with an SD card but it doesn't work. I've already got the required software on CD-ROM already. I did hear that I need an adapter.
Can anybody help?

If you tablet is running Windows RT then it won't work. You need to be running full version of Windows.

This is a guide to installing Windows desktop programs on your tablet,

Assuming you have w8.1 with Bing, copy cds onto a usb stick from a pc and using a usb to microusb converter, attach usb stick via usb port, and click setup.exe, install.exe or whatever install file is called.

Er, bit of a problem.
It doesn't work woith MS Works. I've had a couple of successful experiments band near successes but once you try it with register by email before you can use it software, you CAN'T USE IT ON A TABLET PC AS IT'S ALREADY BEEN RESGISTERED...

Thanks a lot, MAGIX!!!

As far as I rememebr MS-Works is mostly a cut down version of MS-Office. I don't thionk it is even (officially) available any more.

You should be able to save data files in an office compatible format, and then use MS-office apps on the tablet (cloud versions are free)

I dealt with the MS works problem (I still keep it around) by downloading Open Office onto both computers and I can transfer what I've done in MS works to Open Office. But you're partially right about MS Works' availability.
It was discontinued when Windows 8/7 came out but you can still download it from the Microsoft website (if you want to pay for a discontinued suite). Its either that or pay for an annual licence for MS Office which is updated every year.

Before I went onto a HP7 Stream tablet I was (and still am) a big fan of those mid-noughties Windows based pocket PCs which are a good alternatives to pen and paper note books (OH FOR ****'S SAKE!! I NEED THAT CODE/NOTE BUT I CAN'T FIND IT AND SOME OF THE PAGES'RE ALMOST COMING OUT AND I NEED THE SPECS FOR A HEAVIVILY ARMED AND ARMOURED ROBOTIC HYDRA!!!!>:() as you can keep your notes in order. and back them up.

Now come on, how many writers on here haven't been in the situation described in the bold italics?

Hi, newbie alert. I apologise if this has been asked before or if I'm in the wrong place. I recently bought an Acer Iconia tablet (windows 8) but can't get my laptop to recognise it, let alone download anything to it. I'm not technically minded (too old) so any 'help for dummies' would be of great assistance. Thanks
