EastEnders bosses have confirmed that Dean Wicks will be bowing out from the soap later this year.

The rapist makes his departure from walford at the end of his current storyline, which has seen him attempted to get away with the rape of Linda Carter.

Matt Di Angelo, who plays Dean, is expected to film his final scene later in the year.

Discussing the plot line, an EastEnders spokesperson told the Daily Star Sunday: "It will come at no surprise to the viewers of EastEnders that the character of Dean will be departing Walford when the truth finally emerges."

Meanwhile, a show insider said: "Matt was always going to leave at the end of his current contract due to his storyline. There was no way Dean could stay on the Square long-term after raping Linda. But how it all comes out is a closely guarded secret."

Matt Di Angelo's original stunt was between 2006 and 2008 before returning in April 2014.

EastEnders bosses have confirmed that Rachel Bright will be reprising her role as Poppy Meadow.

It is believed that the return will coincide with Fatboy's exit storyline later in the year.

It was previously reported that Ricky Norwood had been axed in the role of Fatboy after five years, and will exit Walford in the summer.

Fatboy had a strong partnership with Poppy before they split in 2014 and she left for a new life.

The Daily Star reports that Poppy's unexpected return to Walford will leave Fatboy gobsmacked.

While details surrounding Poppy's return storyline are being kept under wraps, it looks like Poppy and Fatboy might get a happy ending after all.

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC1.
