Dr Who moving to Disney Channel.

Or should I say Disney XD in America.

I would have thought it would be on BBC AMERICA as all of Disney XD's other programmes appear to be made by Disney themselves.

This could dramatically increase the profile of Dr Who in America where its largely unheard of by the general populous.

Starts June 13th and seems to be starting with David Tennant episodes.

Its being heavily trailed at the moment on the US Disney Channels.

It's not moving to Disney they are just showing older series, the new series will be on BBC America like it has been since the 2009 Specials.

Hah, the OP could've said worse things. There are comments on Youtube saying that Disney has BOUGHT Doctor Who. Not just airing rights, the whole shebang! I had to laugh at the stupidity of that notion. The BBC aren't going to sell it. Isn't it one of their most marketable properties? Only Top Gear is comparable I think.

Hi

I did say they were showing the Tennant stuff.........not the new series.

But its a Massive showcase for any tv show to actually get on a Disney Channel.

If any company could buy Doctor Who, it would be Disney. The idea of George Lucas selling Lucasfilm would have seemed preposterous a few years ago.

With the current government keen to downsize the BBC, the likelihood of such a sale is increasing by the day.

Doctor Who actually has very high name recognition over here in the US. Since about 2008 or so, it has been very mainstream.

Honestly it hasn't.......

I spend a number of months in the US every year and approx 1 in 10 know what Doctor Who is.

I think a good rating for the Doctor in the states is around 2 - 2.4million / although i think one episode did break the 3 million barrier.
