You make a compelling point!

The whole idea of the golden buzzer is to press it for an act that you enjoy and are entertained by when the others aren't.

Lorraine wasn't very talented but she was very funny and if David enjoyed her and wanted to press the golden buzzer then he had every right to. He's the only judge who is going by the correct rules of the golden buzzer.

It was something different and it was very amusing in my opinion. At least it's variety which the show is about.

I also like comedy songs but there was nothing funny about The Crumble Song. It sounded like a bad kid's party song IMO. Certainly nothing compared to the excellent Weird Al Yankovic.

She sounded like someone's drunk auntie who embarasses the whole family at a wedding. She looked like she had stepped out of the 80's after being hiden away by her embarassed relatives.

I interviewed this woman in 1997, she gave me a CD to review and I got our local pub to play it one Sunday afternoon. The barman threatened to slit his wrist if it wasn't taken off.

The issue with Bowen and others on this show is the deceitful way in which they present themselves

Bowen - "a piano teacher" - someone with a career in showbiz lasting nearly 30 years

Jiear - "a backing singer" - Oliver Award nominated actress with a one-woman show performed all over the world

Posthill - "work in the clubs" - performed all over the world, summer seasons, panto, etc

Trampolinist - does it in the garden with his children - years of experience in the Moscow State Circus

Why bother presenting such lies when we can just google them and find out the truth about them in less than a minute?

I agree. I like comedy/spoof songs but it wasnt funny at all IMO, it was just (intentionally?) bad. It was like watching a bad kid's party entertainer.
Cant believe this crap got a golden buzzer

Agreed. Being a kid's entertainer isn't a talent.

She was awful but I have to admit that I did find her mildly amusing. I predict she won't get further than the semis as usually the novelty of joke acts wear off by then.

By far my favourite act on the show. I couldn't stop laughing.

I didnt quite mean it that way, I think it takes talent to entertain kids well But she was pretty awful and I dont think she was funny at all.
Weird Al, Victoria Wood, Fascinating Aida or The Rutles are great examples of comedy/parody songs, far funnier than this Crumble Woman.

I don't get the fuss, Bars and Melody got a golden buzzer and they were crap

You could even say there was a Python-esque element about her. Anyone who's seen Terry Jones or Eric Idle in a dress would probably get the idea

I agree with most of this, except for the not talented part, I found her absolutely hilarious and from watching her YouTube videos she is amazing at what she does. (comedy songs)

True, as much as I love Apple Crumble (!), the act was intently bad and camp, kinda like DW himself.

True again.

I love that there are people who still actually believe the judges (besides Simon) actually decide who goes through and who gets the golden buzzer etc and it isn't all pre determined by the producers long before the show even starts.

I'd put money on them having asked this woman to audition as the series 'joke' act knowing she'd be perfect for David to use his Golden Buzzer.

But they wouldn't have told David to use his Golden Buzzer.

I've often wondered if there are preliminary rounds before the 'judges' become involved as in X-Factor.

Does anyone know?

Please answer if you do know.

I have just watched the show and, if I had been a judge, I would have given her the golden buzzer.

Highly amusing.

I'm going to go against popular opinion and say that I actually quite liked the golden buzzer act. It was obviously meant to be a comedy act and, though it may have seemed bad, I think it was quite funny. She did have a bit of a Miranda Hart type vibe about her.

To be honest, with the number of generic dance troupes and child singers on the show, she was quite refreshing. If David had chosen to use his GB on her (instead of producers), it would've actually been wisely - using it on a good act is rather pointless as they're likely to get through anyway.

She probably was invited on by producers - in 2013, a report said up to 50% of successful acts were headhunted by producers first, and Lettice Rowbotham - finalist last year - said she'd been invited onto the show.

This is what the goKeen buzzer should be used for!

The other's golden buzzer acts were going through anyway!
