Jack and the car.

Jack was never going to take the car. His housemates thought he was a star for not accepting it, which would have resulted in the prize money going down to zero (or would it?), but I suspect he would have taken it like a shot if he was told that he wouldn't have to face his housemates and would just exit through another door when leaving the house. He probably just didn't want to face all the angry housemates if he had taken the car.

And I doubt he would be able to get into that rather smallish car.

Jeez he's not that big and neither is the car that small.

My 2 favourite bits about the whole thing thing were -

- when he said the decision was a no brainer until BB said he had 30 seconds or whatever to think about it and he put his head down and gave it a good think
- back in the House after turning the car down he was muttering what if someone else gets offered something big like that, will they turn it down

Jack looks very tall I meant.

He is this years Sam Evans...pretends he's not bothered about the money or any prizes, but he really is.

He is tall you are quite correct. In fact he is nearly as tall as he is wide

I should feel sorry for HMs like Jack who are incapable of hiding or masking their greed unlike other more sophisticated HMs but I don't It's far too much fun seeing them give their game away

They are all and have always been in every series!

I wouldn't necessarily take what they said as their true feelings. He was in a lose/lose situation there - if he'd taken the car they'd have been angry at him for 'stealing' their prize money, as it is they are probably really resentful that he had the chance to look generous and selfless to the public.

I got the impression that he was going to take the car until they mentioned the prize money disappearing and realised how bad it would make him look.
He appears to be kicking himself now.

The whole stunt was a waste of time really

Wonder what will happen to the car now?

Did BB buy it or just get it on sale or return.

If they bought it they will give it away sooner or later or add it to the winners prize.

I'm guessing they got it on the cheap from BMW as part of a product placement deal if they paid for it at all.
We may well see it return as a prize perhaps on a ring up this number to "Win the BMW that Jack didn't" type promotion later on in the series.

Completely. And the whole bit afterwards with him kicking up a fuss because the cameras were following him was just because he was annoyed with himself that he didn't take it.

That's how I saw it, at one point Jack was seriously considering taking the car in exchange of his place in the house, but this is when BB panicked and mentioned the prize money.

According to HL's the offer and prize money was put to Jack straight away, this wasn't how it happened live.

That rates as one of the most pointless offers ever on BB. If he'd taken the car and the prize fund had disappeared it would have been the end of the series surely, plain daft and clearly engineered to make us fall further in love with good old Jack.

he obviously knew he wouln't fit into the car, so decided it would be too embarassing to drive about, and his new nickname would be Noddy rather than Pieface, if anyone remembers the Kevin Eldon sketch on Jam

They are all interested in the money, who wouldn't be!, Jack included, he may as well just be honest about it,

He can`t drive & he works in MacDonald,s, how would he afford to even run that car? So, he would probably have sold it & not for £27K. I reckon he thought as he had been voted the winner, he should stay & win more than £27K.... Epic fail, he shoulda took the car & run!
Why should he care if 13 people he met 5 minutes ago, would resent him for them losing the prize money? I can`t see any of them being his lifelong friends & I am sure BB would have had some "time changing" task on standby for them to win back the prize money anyway.

I wonder how different it would have been if it was presented in money terms? "Here's 30 grand if you waddle out here now."

No brainer. He can't drive and he has been given an indication that he is popular. Being a good guy makes him popular with his housemates and reinforces the good guy image with the public.

This is the sort of twist they should do a bit later on, once the housemates really start hating each other.

I wouldn't have gone for a car but if they'd offered me anything upwards of £50k I'd have left in a heartbeat.
