I think he's genuine, there's been nothing to indicate otherwise that I have seen.

He's no Aaron Allard, the mould has been broken here as far as I am concerned, Nick is a good HM, potentially a great one, not happy with him hanging around with Sarah though, he could be backing the wrong horse. Still so early in the game but let's see, it's always very telling after the first set of evictions are revealed.

I think he's a less fame-hungry/desperate Dexter - Nick did say his favourites were Rex * Dexter.

I don't think see him being a particularly smart gameplayer (picking Sarah/Adjoa as noms) but he's going to go far by being sweet and non-threatening.
