Short Availabilty of iPlayer downloads
We're off abroad on holiday soon and I thought I would "stock up" on some programmes to watch on my iPad in case of poor weather.
I have just finished downloading a few things only to discover that only one of them is available to watch for more than five days ![]() Last time I did this almost everything had a 28 day window to watch stuff. Episode 1 of 'Episodes' for example expires after only one day! 1864 the new Scandi drama must be watched within five days. Presumably there's no way of downloading this stuff with a longer window of opportunity to watch? |

Well there is but it probably isn't legal.
It's rather galling to find when googling that the BBC is bragging about making programmes available for 30 days. Doesn't seem that way to me .

If you read the stuff about the 30 days you would see that it's not for everything. Some content is still stuck on the 7 day rules.

I remember discovering The Detectorists through iPlayer and that series was available for four weeks which is how I managed to watch the whole thing having missed the first three episodes on "live" TV. Why on earth 'Episodes' should only be available for one week I have no idea. I'm not that bothered about seeing it but thought it might be a nice few half hours of light comedy to watch if the weather while I am away is rubbish. A bit of consistency would be logical. Still it is what it is and I will have to go on hols and hope for good weather .

It would make more sense to have a separate window for downloaded content of say 30 days. Some of the limitations may be tied up with the programme rights that the BBC have agreed.
