I'm annoyed with the lack of diversity this series

It's the usual crowd of teens and models. We only have 2 black people, (one who they are obviously setting up for us to hate ), one gay dude, no Asians, no muslims, no east Europeans, no transgender and no one with a disability. As usual, its about courting the privileged white teen vote.

I would really love BB to take in people from all walks of like, all demographics and ages and ethnicities. They have never really done that. It's always about just creating an environment where they get some false sex relationship out of it. I really miss the early days of BB where it was a true social experiment. While I enjoy aspects of this years, I can't help but feel a bit disappointed at the tokenism and lack of inclusiveness.

I really don't care what nationality, ethnicity, sexuality people in there are as long as they're interesting with a decent personality. Unfortunately very few of them are imo.

I am embarrassed that this is the first series to screen on Irish TV for years...it will make Irish viewers tune out for future series. As you said, no diversity in the cast yet again. There is no reason to watch, no big characters or any major fun. We may have another BB4 on our hands.

At least this lot are doing something unlike the BB4 housemates who did NOTHING all day every day

Remember that African housemate who swapped with Cameron, even he couldn't wait to get out of the BB4 house and get back to the Africa house

The last UK census, stated that the black population was 3%. Two of the fifteen remaining HMs are black, which is 13.33% of HMs or 14.2%, if you count the twins as one.

How many audition? They sought out Steve as an ex-serviceman. Having done that they are just seeing who turns up.

Diversity would only do CBB, so there won`t be any in this series.

Who cares? I mean, seriously? What do you want them to do, just put in a black person for the sake of it in order to make the house more diverse? People can criticise the show all they want and I know we get the stereotypes, but in terms of diversity, over the past 16 years we've had everything from white housemates, black housemates, gay, lesbian, transgender, blind housemate, disabled housemate, housemate with Tourette's. One thing the show cannot be accused of is not being diverse enough.

Maybe it might make the show 'less entertaining' in the eyes of Channel 5.

Big Brother should be putting people in based on whether they'll make interesting housemates, it shouldn't be to do with them belonging to an ethnic minority.

Big Brother 6, Big Brother 8, Big Brother 9 and Big Brother 10 were very diverse years, some of those series were great and others weren't.

If we're going for diversity, could we have some intelligent housemates please instead of the usual bunch of self-obsessed morons?

Good post

Surely, a show- up that some were unable to spell words like - 'Canoe'...... Or, to calculate primary school arithmetic

And.... what about Ageism. Presumably, the emphasis on youth is to encourage sexual shenanigans, amongst the fit young things

I'm not a fan of the quota approach. But I do think that when they cast people, they should make an effort to make them less stereotypical.

Sorry but enough with that crap, what does that even mean? Stop making this about races, sexualities, etc. BB has more than enough represented minorities throughout it's run, probably more than any other show on UK TV.

The only thing I think is worth commenting on is the ages, but for once I'm actually enjoying most of the hms so I don't care. Other than that I don't think we should be caring about labels or ticking boxes, I think they're all different.

In fifteen years of Big Brother I've never seen anybody who in any way shape or form represents me... A non-cretin.

I've just learned to deal with it.

Has there ever been an Eastern European housemate? I'm thinking there possibly was..

If some minorities are continually overrepresented then someone else must be underepresented..I'd say there's not enough regional diversity for me.whers the scots or Irish housemates or Yorkshire Geordies..lots of regional people aren't represented this year. I'd like to see a Chinese housemate one year or someone from Latin America for a change or even Japan would be interesting

Well you can feel what you like.

But if you turn the casting of HM on its head, ask how many white people, black people, asian people, gay people, disabled people, Eastern European, transgender etc etc chose NOT to audition for the Monkeyhouse 2015, then I think yoiu are left with your answer. The best of a minority.
