HO gloved killer and recent real life conviction
Awful coincidence but I wonder if the recent conviction of a nurse in real life for poisoning and killing patients in a similar manner to the HO gloved killer will result in any editing and rewrites of the script?
Condolences to the real life victims and families. |

That's awful
I just hope they don't portray the killer in a sympathetic light when they are revealed to the audience - that WOULD be disrespectful to the real life incident. Whichever character the GHK is, this character is a serial killer, and pure evil. They deserve a comeuppance, and hopefully the storyline will climax with the GHK being sentenced to life in prison, or being killed off themselves. Whoever it is, CANNOT stay on the show, as they clearly are psychotic and very deranged, and clearly think they have the right to terminate whoever's lives they choose. There is no justifying their actions. |

It's Hollyoaks, They will instantly have the fallout stop and the now known killer will be sat drinking in the pub while the wake of their last victim takes place in the same room

They can't rewrite because of real events imo. Nothing would ever be shown on TV soaps if that was the case every time something similar occurred.

I hate it when programmes or storylines are cancelled due to real news events. You can't cancel just because it might upset someone, if they're that upset over recent news, they probably won't be watching the soaps!!

To be honest, HO were never going to be sensitive about this. |

The only thing they could have really done here is have the victim die of gunshot wounds or related complications and scrap the gloved hand bit. Doubtless GHK will have future victims after a respectable interval.

Only 3 victims since New Year so its been well paced for a serial killer. Certainly not every single week like some were claiming.

What I am finding tedious is all the hospital based action in the show right now. When the GHK storyline is over I hope they cut back the number of hospital scenes and ridiculous "accidents" the characters are subjected to. |

They backed down on a child killer story due to the Bulger stuff. They shouldn't pander to it just becsuse it has a relevance to real life events.

Well, sometimes they have to for legal reasons (see above re the Silent Witness example), other times they do it because there would be negative publicity that would hurt the show. Had they said no to Bulger's mother, it would have been spun as "they told the mother of a murdered child to piss off" and that wouldn't look good at all.
IIRC it has now emerged that the perpetrator in the real life case forged his qualifications, but then the S'Avage scenes still aired, so who knows? |

I think it's creepy. I can't help but wonder if the storyline inspired someone else to play God
In real life... Hopefully the story is brought to an end sooner and the god player facing serious justice and given life long with no parole or killed off. |

I had always assumed that the story writers came up with this idea when the story first broke and we heard that the perpetrator in the real life case had been arrested months ago.
I know of 4 other cases where nurses have been jailed for the exact same thing, so it's a popular story to tell, but it has been very poorly executed IMO. |
