The SIM Free v Unlocked Thing...
I'll just start by saying I'm not really too knowledgeable about mobiles. I have an LG Pop GD510 on T-Mobile PAYG. It's more of an emergency phone than anything. The screen is getting less and less responsive, so I think it's time for a change.
I'd ideally like an Android phone on PAYG, and want to spend up to about £60. I want to use the credit I've got left on T-Mobile, but would then look to go to FreedomPop if it comes here or maybe to ASDA Mobile. I'm confused, even after Googling, about which phone suppliers etc. would allow me to swap SIMs in future with no problems. ie. won't lock to the first SIM's network. I'm not bothered about losing my current phone no. So can I have some advice on where to buy from and any particular deals you may have seen? Cheers! |

The only instance I've heard of a phone locking to its first SIM is if you buy an iPhone from Carphone Warehouse.
Otherwise, if you buy a phone that says it is unlocked, it will always be unlocked. The current leader in price and performance seems to be the Moto G (or even the Moto E if you want something even cheaper). I don't know where the best price is though. |
