Advice on Nexus 7 Replacement
Swiftly Does It
19-05-2015
Hi,

My daughters Nexus 7 has broken (needs new mainboard) and I have been quoted an eye watering £238.07 to repair it.

Obviously we will not be getting it repaired and will be buying a new one but I am unsure what to get.

My daughter uses it for games and youtube (Minecraft, Fifa etc)

Should we be looking at another Nexus 7 2013 or a newer make/model got a budget of around 200 to 300 quid.

Any advice most welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4" for £235/£240 on Amazon depending on whether you go for white or bronze. The bronze one is very nice.

Lovely screen, excellent performance.

How about a hudl 2 at £99 from Tesc . Has an 8.3 inch screen and decent spec.

Well I certainly wouldn't pay the £238.07 to repair it, not when Argos are currently selling off the 32GB Wi-Fi Nexus 7 2013 for £149.99. Mine is running fine on the latest Lollipop 5.1.1, so I'd either get that or look at the Hudl 2 in your nearest Tesco store.

There was a trade in offer a couple of months ago for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S, so I got the 8.4 inch from Argos for £230 minus a £100 trade in for my old Tab 2, wasn't a bad deal, great tablet too

Nexus 7 (2013) is being discontinued. As great a tablet as it is, they made a mess with the lollipop update.

I'd get an i pad air.

The Nexus 9 is back up in price. It was £199 for a bit in Currys PC World and John Lewis. That would have been ideal.

I'd get one of these whilst they are going cheap:

Quick, great screen and well built

It is a great tablet for the price. I had one myself for a few months but I sold it when I got my iPad Air 2. Apart from preferring an iOS based tablet I really couldn't fault it. The screen is excellent and it's fast and snappy.

Hudl 2. Very nice tablet, especially given the price.

Well to backtrack a bit I had the iPad Air 1, then went to the tab pro 10.1 and then onto the air 2 which I currently have. I jump between devices a lot

By "These guys" don't you mean "you"?

I would recommend the Nexus 7 or Tesco Hudl 2 (both are FullHD and run games smoothly).
You can also have a look at a list of the best budget tablets here so you make a comparison yourself for which is the best tablet for your daughter.

Yep, Hudl2. Amazing value, especially if you pay with tokens.

Isn't there something in the forum rules about advertising?

No reply from the OP, what a waste of time trying to help.
