I do feel quite embarassed to watch it in front of other people

I watched the first two tw4ts go in and called it a day. Since then I've managed to fill in a few cultural holes by torrenting films I've never quite got around to and watching them in the same time it takes to watch BB and BOTS. I'm keeping an eye on here to see second hand if something earth shattering's going on, but it isn't. Not in the slightest. And yes, I do feel better for it.

I find it hard to recall most of their names even weeks into the series now, it's all contrived.

Also I don't think they want my viewership anyway, its obvious that they are chasing the TOWIE/Geordie Sure/The Valleys etc demographic which I'm not part of and wouldn't be seen dead watching. Big Brother used to be a show watched by young old, but I think anyone over the age of 23 (or even someone younger with a brain between their ears) would struggle to engage with this lot. They're not very cerebral are they? What happened to the inteilligent coversations and working out what makes someone tick?

So whilst I still have it on in the background I find I'm now completley detached from it. I'll also watch something else on at the same time if I think it's better than BB. Most shows are these days.

CBB still has legs in it, and I still enjoy it. But I no longer watch and enjoy the civilian series.”

Sadly, I think it went hugely downhill from Series 5. I really dislike the 'drama' and much preferred the idea of a social experiment. However, I think it's inevitable that people become more savvy when auditioning to be on a long running show like this one. I have continued to watch it all these years (probably afraid I'll miss something!) but this is the year that I'm bowing out of watching. Still can't resist the lure of checking the forum every now and then, and will probably ask at work about who got evicted etc (I did half watch the live launch, so I sort of know who they are). I may, of course, get sucked back in to watching as the series progresses - you never know! Happy watching folks - I'm going back to my 'Criminal Minds' - for now...

Me too, on the whole. I watch it knowing it's not the same BB, knowing all that we know - I choose to watch it.

I imagine I am not the age group they are aiming for either - I'm just informed MTV are also showing the show this season, so definitely not the right demographic but, sod 'em, I shall watch regardless It's also the having something watch in the evening, as generally the TV is off!

Coming onto the forum is a big part of it for me though, although it's full of ever-increasing cynics who think that every tear or emotion is fake, whereas I tend to think that at least some of the emotions expressed are genuine, they can't all be that good at acting!

Anyhow, I still enjoy it, I just enjoy it as a different type of show than it used to be.

Have to agree with the OP. Used to be an avid watcher and poster on the old AOL message board but for years now I have watched less and less and my life is better for it! As vodka says CBB still has life in it but the civilian version has nothing new to offer.
I still read this forum from time to time mainly to see if there is anything major going on which might be worth a look

God, me too... Although to be fair I do watch it naked, so that might be part of the problem.

Yes, there is also the embarrassment factor now associated with watching the civilian series. I'd be hard pushed to find anyone in real life who admits to watching it now, but years ago it was so popular amongst ALL age groups that it was always a huge talking point at work etc the next day.

I'm 20. With this series, yes. I can't relate to any of the housemates and the highlights are duller than dish water.

The first year I'm not watching religiously, nor am I keeping up on house news. I visit this forum because I love the opinions, and sometimes humourous comments

I absolutely loved and was hooked on last years BB. This year is quite a slow start, I don't feel I've outgrown it, I just don't think they've put interesting people in this year.

Yes, I think I probably have.

I'm really not enjoying this series. I don't know if it's because they're all so young, or if it's because most of them aren't even in there for the experience, but just for fame (and most of them are already on some kind of 'platform')!

I've not outgrown it but I don't get all aerated about it the way I used to.
I miss more the watching the show and foruming at the same time.
Happy, hilarious days with a lot of un..pc banter and a lot of very unkind stuff said all round....all In the best possible taste of course.

It's all a bit CBBC these days. Don't think I'll make it through the whole series.

Technicality if it went back to original format and no messing around on a stupid spin off, It could get older viewers back.

Yes, the embarrassment factor has been present for quite a few years. Many people will never admit to watching BB - ( even.. If, they do ! )

The media lost interest, since the Jade Goody racist debacle, which is a shame. It has become an unfashionable programme.

Also, there is the snobbish element, who consider those watching as chavvy, moronic & Ill educated

I am disappointed, this year. The main reason given for the Eileen nominations was because of her "age" - the youngsters were saying - Whatever !!!! if, they disturbed her, at night.......

It is always more interesting to see the hierarchy of different ages & they haven't even shown these, 'interesting' night-time antics, on the HL's
