Sorry for the judgemental thread title but I don't know how else to put it.

I'm finding this BB so dull, and I think it's because so many of the cast are puddle deep and quite stupid. I'm not talking about education or class here...there've been plenty of HMs over the years who weren't 'book smart' but held my interest, either because they were complex, or nuts, or had a quick wit, or were astute even if they didn't express it particularly well. But some of this lot sound borderline simple.

When I listen to, eg the twins, or Jack, or Adjoa, or Harriett, or Chloe, nice as they may be as people, there's just nothing there. Nothing for me to psychoanalyse, nothing that puzzles me or challenges me or makes me laugh or go "aww".

You can tell just by the forum what a deeply uninteresting cast they are. We're talking about a tiny argument that wasnt even an argument about eggs for chrissakes.

Completely agree. There is very little mystery to any of them.

You are absolutley right Scarlett. I cant find anything remotley interesting or intriguing about any of them. Ive also never seen the forum so quiet and disinterested.

Love the thread title. They are fairly collectively stupid, to be fair. I had to laugh at the fact that Aaron was quite OK with being called stupid but don't you DARE say he's fake. Stupid's fine, on BB; it seems.

I think it's easier to talk about who might not be stupid. I'd say Nick, Joel, Sarah and Adjoa may have something about them. Then there's a tiny sliver of hope that Kieron and Cristian are not quite as shallow as they appear to be, also.

To be completely honest, Nick and Joel are the only ones who've seemed a little bit clever. Nick's my fave so far; though we've seen very little of him for the last couple of days. I love how tuned in he is to what's going on and how he analyses the show like a DS member.

The majority of them seem to have an intellect rivaled only by garden tools, even Christian didn't make any sense at all when he gave his little speech the other night, the words he used didn't fit what he was trying to say, he should have signs on both ears saying space for rent.

The only one I find compelling viewing is Jade, she's hilarious for all the wrong reasons.

There is also a complete lack of spontaneous humour. There have been far more highly entertaining characters in previous BBs and far more laughs. Such as Bubble Marco Michelle Shell to name but a few. And far more antics in tasks.

I think bland is probably the most fitting word for them. Though the majority are indeed thick.

That's exactly it. I can't remember when there was last a series where the housemates did possess some spontaneity. All laughs and jolly japes seem so forced nowadays. I don't remember when I last had a really good roll on the floor, tears rolling down my cheeks laugh watching this.

after 1 week all you really know about them is what you assume of them.
if you are bored, it is your own imagination that has caused it

so people dont want structured but they want it to be more fun from day 1
and people dont want fake but they want more fun from day 1
and people want them to be genuine but they dont want them to act normally

the reality is, you want towie / keith lemon & top gear and that is the problem - they are all structured planned and scripted... and you expect it from everyone on tv, and when they dont do it right, you complain

I agree that Nick and Joel aren't stupid but I don't find either bloke interesting. I can't imagine myself talking in a pub with them for two hours. Compare either with other stereotypically posh HMs like Ben, Freddie, Harry, or Tim from BB3 etc and they really come up short in the interest stakes.

I agree Adjoa may not be thick but she sure sounds it. On launch night I was listening to her and genuinely thinking they'd put a simpleton in there. Still, at least she's mildly interesting on a psychological level. She'd have been more so in a different series.

Sarah I agree isn't thick but tbf in that house, she's gonna seem like Stephen Hawking. I can see why people find her more interesting, but again by comparison, if we put Sarah in another series, she'd either blend into the middle of the pack or have someone else to fire off. In this cast of vacuous himbos or dullards, she stands out and is house alpha but she's still quite bland for me.

Jade is the only good casting I can see so far. Classic BB material. Eileen a bit too.

I feel this is one of the downsides when you have a lack of grown ups.

I don't think it comes down to intelligence per se, its more that when a whole group of people lack life experience (through no fault of their own) they can appear dull and 'thick' in a wet-behind-the-ears kind of way.

Not so bad when there are just a few of them but when its a whole group (except one) the atmosphere drops to the lowest common denominator.

TBF to choose to go on BB are the aspersions of the intelligence impaired.

C4 early BBs maybe ok ish, C5 versions hower are just pobs in a house being fed booze to make cheap dross TV

Never watched Towie, from what I've been told it's scripted isn't it, full of orange people with teeth so bright they'd give the sun a run for it's money in the blinding you stakes. I did see Gemma Collins in I'm a celebrity, sadly didn't last and she was blessed with a room temperature IQ number very much like this lot. As scarlet said there doesn't seem to be much to be anyone to hold our interest but I'm going to hang in there in the hope it will get better and by better I mean funnier.

I dunno. We've had very young casts before. Mostly in fact. But a certain amount of life experience definitely helps balance it out, I do agree on that. Let's take one example though: the twins, now compare them with the even younger Samanda from BB8. Samanda knock Sally and Amy into a cocked hat in terms of appeal, and I don't even rank BB8 as a vintage year.

I think farlofan had it right with the description "bland". And I accept bland isn't just the domain of the stupid. But combined with stupid and with a lack of experience we get, well, this cast.

they are pretty bland, so how witless and dull must Danny be to still stand out as so bollock-crunchingly bland and boring, really it must be some kind of experiment to see how far you cab get away with being so dull as long as you have a pretty face?

FM insults aside, you've got me thinking though. I think maybe the producers have cast what they think will appeal to a TOWIE demographic (HMs they can 'relate to' with a couple of oddbods and BB stereotypes thrown in for good measure) while at the same time not wanting quite so many explosive characters as last year, which turned a lot of the BB faithful off.

And found themselves stuck between a rock and a hard place. Because there's not enough drama for the TOWIE demographic and not enough human interest for those of us who like people watching, group dynamics, and the socio/psychological angle of the C4 years.

sounds like how the Labour party is going, what was that about you can't please all of the people all of the time?

BIB, absolutley not. But I would like to see a bit of oomph and character from the individuals in there, find out who they are, see them having some fun etc.

The office where I work certainly doesnt have a script nor is it structured but between us all we have a laugh and a joke, discuss life and interact. The housemates this year dont seem to provide any of that. And it is not my imagination that has caused this.

Last year was a laugh wilderness for sure. And BB14. Both series were just...nasty. At least CBB gives us some humour or big characters.

Apart from the last one which seemed particularly nasty I do agree.

And lib dems.

It's an interesting comparison though in terms of voting systems. Large numbers of BB viewers often don't get the winner they wanted. And their polls aren't accurate either (Adjoa more 'untrustworthy' than number 1 house bitch Danny??)

Is bland the same as uninteresting? Normally I wouldn't think so but it seems to be the case with this cast of characters, they don't inspire me to post, normally I love to get on her and defend my favourites, but this year I don't have a favourite, I don't have one that makes my blood boil, no on in there makes me smile and it seems like nothing is going to happen or change
