No sound connecting laptop to LG TV
Hi,
This is my first post (although a very long time lurker) I did a search but didn't find anything. Hope this is in the correct place. I have an LG 32lb58 Smart TV, I can not get sound to come out of the TV when connecting my laptop through the HDMI lead. The sound works fine in my other, non smart, tv. The sound does however come out of the TV ok using the play station plus a newer laptop. I have tried all HDMI ports, have tried starting laptop whilst plugged in to HDMI, restarting etc, have also tried setting the HDMI in playback devices (on the laptop) to default but it does not accept this. I have also updated my graphics card driver via the Intel website. I am at a loss what to do. I have looked at the settings on the tv but can not see anything relevant. Please help . Ellie. |

My only comment is that every laptop I've connected via HDMI (quite a few of them) has required Windows settings changing to provide sound over HDMI, as the default is picture only.
I've always found it a bit confusing where the setting is on the PC, but a quick google with the laptop model number and 'no sound HDMI' soon finds it. |

I don't understand why it works fine on my old, non smart, TV through the hdmi lead. It just seems to not like this new TV. Although as I mentioned the playstation and a newer laptop work fine in the TV.
