I'm struggling to understand why people have these 2 together.

Why do chips go with lasagne? Isn't that a carb overdose..are you supposed to dip the chips into the lasagne?

A nice slice of garlic bread goes much better imo

My wife also can't understand why I can have Lasagne and Chips for the reasons mentioned by the OP. I think it's a nice dish.

She also can't fathom out a chip buttie for the same reason yet I love them too.

When they ask you in cafés/restaurants/pubs if you want chips or garlic bread with your lasagne it's always got to be the garlic bread.

Up until a couple of years ago I didn't even realise lasagne and chips was a thing.

Surely garlic bread and lasagne is a carb overload too?
Ive thought this as well. Spaghetti bolognese and chips is just absurd, but lasagne and chips (which is pretty much the same thing only in a different shape) is perfectly fine

When I was still eating a lot I'd quite happily have chips with lasagne, spag bol........even shepherds pie

Similarly I'd quite often have potatoes in a curry with rice..........potato and pea curry was a particular favourite

Chip butties........heaven !

in fact chips pretty much go with anything.......

I'd rather have garlic bread with pasta/lasagne, or salad but not chips!

No way!

It just tastes of nothing really. Same with crisps. A roll and crisps,

Chips go with everything

Oh anyone can criticise the glorious chip buttie is beyond me, Nothing nicer than tucking into a chip buttie and wiping the butter running down your chin with your sleeve. A true treat for the working class man.

Love carbs with carbs. Macaroni cheese sandwiches are the best.

Its just more acceptable having chips with lasagne than any other pasta because it can be cut into a regimental shape therefore its ideal for the accompanying chips.

I can't understand why you'd have chips or garlic bread.

There's enough carbs in the pasta for me.

Nope, size 12-14 but I am working on that. I don't have lasagne, chips and garlic bread that often that very reason, it's about 18 days worth of calories!

never had & never would have chips with lsagne but each to their own - not the carbs or calories that put me off just dont think they go together, same as chips with pizza.

A ex girlfriend of mine once invited me to dinner and she gave me spaghetti, pasta and rice. Nothing else, no sauce no meat or anything. She was French and I'd always thought the French were good with food but she was the exception.

I don't know about eating out we don't do that but putting chips or vegetables with lasagne or the like is a way to make the more expensive part of the meal go round in our home. I can remember my nan pouring gravy over a slice of bread and putting it next to a slice of beef in the hope none of us would question why we didn't have enough meat for everyone at the table.

We haven't done the bread and gravy thing for many years but we still put carbs or veggies on a plate to make a meal come in under a pound a portion.
