Callie the Wonder Dog

Can't see a thread. I'm watching a bit delayed.

Quite amusing, but how on earth is there a Guinness world record for a dog bursting balloons?

I'm guessing that the Americans started it and took it to ridiculous levels.

I don't know but it was cute as **** and I was genuinely cheering along and wanting him to do well. Getting my votes tonight anyway!

I'm so chuffed for her. It's nice to think Britain are world champs at something again.
And to take the crown from the Americans too - they've dominated the sport for far too long if you ask me.
It's a fantastic achievement.

Callie the wonder dog is going to romp home tonight and be the winner of tonight's semi final. The dog broke a Guiness World Record tonight, it has to be the one to beat!

Poor Cally. I don't know what else she could have done

Well I couldn't do it. And I doubt many others could either.

Hardly something the Queen would want to watch though is it?

Well she likes dogs, supporting British national achievements, and who doesn't enjoy popping balloons?

The act was ridiculous, but I was gripped towards the end.

I didn't vote for them (as there was little else they could do), but it is good that they beat the world record.

Any dog could do that.

Just watched it again and even though I know she does it it is still tense viewing and I still find myself cheering on.
Shame this act didn't go through. Would love to have seen the international dog off.

Utterly pointless watching a yapping cur running wild amongst a lot of balloons.

Entertaining? Not in anyone's wildest dreams! (Well, except the bovine Walliams who who probably find watching a dog defecating on his doorstep hilarious.

Talented? Pick and dog from any rescue home and, with minimal encouragement, it will do the same.

Never before has your username been so apt.

We could see some serious global competition now with the publicity Cally has given the sport!

Edit: Thinking about it, they should gave the doggy balloon burst off as an interval act in the final.

No, not all dogs like the noise a ballon makes. You would have to train them. Also the record has been held for ten years. So good on Callie for beating it. Hope she gets a few treats for doing it.

That sounds like the sort of thing a TV columnist would say, ending with '...but enough about Amanda'!

Precisely. My two would be terrified of the loud popping noise. They were bad enough one day last year when we were out walking as a couple of older teens were walking nearby and they were popping bubble wrap. My Greyhound is particularly sensitive to loud noises and that day she really tucked her tail and pulled for home. I don't actually think I could condition them to not react at all to noises like balloons popping.

It would startle my dog to a mix between a spaniel and terrier, he has accidentally popped one before and barked wondering what was happening. All dogs have different personalities. I love the fact when you go for a walks with your dog you get to know people and you probably don't know the owners name but you know their dogs name.
