In Jade's case there's also a certain percentage who will automatically defend her because she's Irish (just as there's a certain percentage who will automatically attack her for the same reason).
There's a certain percentage who will automatically defend her because they like looking at her (some who honestly admit that's the case and others who do but deny it's a reason for trying to bestow sainthood on a crackpot like this).
There's a certain percentage who support her just to be contrary to people who pan her.
There's a certain percentage who support her specifically because they dislike someone she's had conflict with in the house (and build her up in their minds even more, because of that tendency to want a "hero" to oppose their designated "villain"--no matter how badly the "hero" fits that role).
And I suppose there's a certain percentage who genuinely like egotistical nutbags. Because YES, they're entertaining. You can't deny that. The problem is that so many people don't admit that's the ONLY reason they want her around--they can't usually avoid the urge to defend someone entertaining on ALL accounts.”
The bit in bold is very interesting for me. I think there's a certain amount of truth in it but because there's a certain amount of truth in it, it posts Irish posters in a difficult position. I basically am refraining from posting in threads about jade because I know this criticism will be levelled and my opinion not taken seriously. Only happens with Irish hms for some reason. Those defending or attacking Adjoa or Kieran are never judged on their ethnicity; those defending or attacking Joel are never quizzed on their associations with Wales. It seems to be a particular DS syndrome.
I think, Kromm, you need to ask yourself how much the bit in bold stifles discussion. So I'm going to comment on the posts below and then I'm going to shut up until Jade is evicted on Friday - as she inevitably will be to massive boos from the moronic crowd.

Completely, absolutely but predictably out of proportion. Her and Nick's nom talk was without any nastiness towards the others. Just a voicing of opinion.

I also think this is true - but she won't be given any credit for her refreshing honesty. Though she's repeatedly spoken herself about how objectionable her own personality is 'diva bitch' etc.; all people want to talk about is the fact that she thinks she's beautiful.

I find that quite confusing too. She's confident in herself. That's apparently not allowed. Having said that, I still think Jade's self-confidence is very fragile and she has fleetingly mentioned being bullied at school by the 'pretty, cool' girls. That little comment was quite telling.

And I'll finish with this 'tractor fancier' unveiled xenophobia which takes me nicely back to Kromm's initial point.
That's me out.
