In a forthcoming episode, newlyweds Steve and Michelle McDonald will be seen talking about her death when the doors to the pub suddenly blow open.

A Corrie insider told The Sun: “It will be a really spooky moment because it will seem like Deirdre is making her presence felt from beyond the grave.

“Michelle and Steve are talking about her, sharing their memories and their shock at her death, when suddenly the doors swing open with a huge crash.”

Thought it was a made up article at first, it just sounds so stupid!

I think it's in really poor taste if it's true.

I agree not entirely sure what the writers are thinking!

Sounds interesting. I still remember when Corrie did a ghost storyline in the 1990's after Ivy Brennan died. Both Sarah Lou and Vera Duckworth saw the ghost of Ivy and spooky things were happening..

I know Deirdre had an impish sense of humour ..and under different circumstances it could have been funny...but not now..this is purely in bad taste...I wonder what Anne's family will think..

Where's Bill Murray when you need him?

I think a more appropriate scene would be for Ken to open a box and in it are Dedrie's many glasses from over the years, then he breaks down and cries.

The Rovers could be haunted by a different ghost. It could be Ivy again, or uncle Albert.

How is it possible though? Anne's dead so how can they get her to play Deirdre's ghost? Makes no sense.

Just have strange things going on. You could even do a Scooby Doo and reveal it was Tracy Barlow all along.

That would be very similar to another real life Corrie death - Bernard Youens who played Stan Ogden. When Hilda Ogden opened Stan's belongings from the hospital after his funeral she picked up his glasses and started crying. A very understated, but very moving, scene, one of Corrie's best ever IMO. I suspect the tears were real and Jean Alexander was also crying for Bernard Youens.

I very rarely cry when I'm watching telly but that had me in bits at the time. Even watching that clip just now got me all choked up.

Back when corrie had a sense of realism to it, doubt you would get a scene like that nowadays.

Exactly. And if a scene like that was put in it now a lot of people would just say it was boring but those were the days when I loved Corrie.

It certainly sounds like poor taste.

Corrie also did an episode when Vera's ghost appeared when Jack died. That was quite sweet but neither of the actors had died in real life.

Here here! Very poor taste after all the sadness of Anne's death and the care that's been taken to write Deirdre out of the show-would they seriously then stoop to a low like this? It fell flat before with Blanche's ghost as it is. Definitely a no-no storyline for me!

BIB I'd forgotten about Blanche's ghost.

So there have been SLs involving Blanche's ghost, Ivy's ghost, Vera's ghost and now maybe Deirdre's ghost.

Wasn't there a SL where Sophie made someone - maybe Vera think there were spirits/ghosts about?

I agree. It would be fine if Anne was still alive and just the character of Deirdre had been killed off but this would be just awful.

Clearly her family must be happy with it. So why shouldn't we? We didn't know her personally like her family.

Having just read the article it came from the Sun - so I suspect it might not be true.
