Good idea or bad?

Personally, I think it is a bad idea. Okay, it can stir things up in the house, which can make for good viewing sometimes.

However, I feel that if the housemates think their nominations may be shown to the house they may hold back somewhat and not say everything they want to say about the person they are nominating.

Also, what's the point in nominating in the privacy of the diary room if they are going to show the nominations to the house? They may just as well make them nominate face to face.

That's my opinion...what does everyone else think about it?

Nick manages to nominate and give reasons in public.

To take some of the pressure off poor Nick,I think that it's a good idea this series. I'd like them to go back in time to give the face to face nominations to someone other than Nick. Maybe change it every couple of weeks

Bad.

Remember one year when they started showing lots of clips of 'private' conversations of HMs in the DR? It totally undermined the purpose of the DR to be a closed-off secret space away from the other HMs.

This time I'm all in favour of it, after last week's Oscar Winning performances in F to F Nom it showed all the housemates who are just performing for the cameras and who aren't.

I didn't see one single tear shed during nominations yesterday

I see no reason for nominations to be private.

Is it written down in their contracts that all DR conversations are private?

To be fair though, everything said in the DR is shown to the dozens, nay, tens of viewers.

Same as you, there is no point in having a DR for nominations. Gone are the days when HMs could happily vent their true opinions for us all to see, now they are guarded in what they say.

It's counter productive. Now they will be more guarded when nominating in the DR and maybe not even nominate who they want to. Or may not even nominate who they want to for fear of it kicking off

Indeed and the added bonus of housemates not being sure of who nominated them , its all too clear now who their allies are

Well, this is hardly BB anymore, is it ? Diary room should be completely private - much better if all the HM's have to guess who nominated them. Channel 5/Endemol are just stirring up sh!t by doing this

It's a great way to create drama in the short run. But in the long run it just makes housemates more careful and safe with what they say. Their nominations are already way too safe, now that they don't have the safety of the diary room to vent then their reasons will be safe aswell and they'll just keep things to themselves.

This could be why each series now turns into a total mess of unfocused twists because the producers are so desperate for drama that they are stifling housemates opinions and need other ways to bring it out of them.

It's not just the nominations , sooner or later they always show people's musings whilst in there . The point of the diary room IS confidentially discussing your experience away from the housemates. Any HM who saw last year will be aware of that so therefore won't be using the diary room for its intended purpose, therefore making it redundant

Exactly !

It leaves the the nicest ones vulnerable .
Who would want Harriet hollering at them , or the twins tag teaming them ?
Even Chloe pounced .
Has the likes of Cristian , Joel and Nick easy pickings.

BB should scrap the DR....pointless as very little said in there remains private

This week I'm in favour of it just because of the hard time Nick was given about his noms (as if the rest of them were allowed to abstain or something?!). But in general I'm not sure it's a good idea as I think it'll lead to tactical voting rather than honest voting.

It's ridiculous isn't it? I nominate so-and-so for an easy life and the sake of my eardrums.

I'm strictly old-school; the DR should be sacrosanct. As it is, it may as well not BE there.

Most of his reasons are weak to the point of pathetic...and always apologises to them.

It never was sacrosanct iirc There used to be programme devoted to showing the Diary Room.

To the viewers, not the housemates.

I'm talking about revealing DR content to other HMs, not to us.

I like it. Let's be honest, we need a bit of something to spice it up and they should be wise to BB's tricks. If they're going hell for leather with their nominations, its their own fault when it gets shown.

Surely anybody who applies for BB knows by now that anything said in the diary room is likely to be broadcast to the other housemates at some time or another?
The easiest thing is for the housemates not to use the diary room unless called to do so, and then say nothing private or contraversial thus giving BB no ammunition to use against you.
BB would sharp keep the diary room private if nobody ever used it.

Agreed, but as evident by some posts here people want to give him an easy time of it,whilst jumping at Jade for similar bb forced scenarios, like having luxury.
