But obviously a potato connection there, even if only in the mind of the contestant.

OK of course! But that's not linked to the composer, in the same way as types of potato

Reminds me of an episode of Revenge of the Egghead. Captain Cook was given as an answer to a question.
Host : "I need a first name." Contestant : "Thomas." ![]() |

It's an incorrect answer, but why do you think it's a stupid one?

In bygone days people paid to go round 'Lunatic Asylums'
(as they were then known) and laugh at the antics of the 'lunatics' within. Nowadays we get the likes of Joey Essex and his TOWIE thickoes on tv,and supposedly laugh at them. Nothing changes,we just move the goalposts! |

I don't think it's been mentioned on this thread, but surely the most stupid answer ( but one of the funniest) on a Mr & Mrs show was the one in America years back.
The question was " where is the most unusual place you've had sex?" Given it was obviously a prime time show the woman's answer was very unexpected ( especially by her husband) because it was not based on geography but the anatomy. I think it's on Google. |

There was a question on ITV's new game show Freeze Out today.
"Which English King fought at the Battle of Hastings?" Now that's an interesting question at least in respect of what answer is acceptable. A real smartypants will say Harold Godwinson. Or Harold II. Most people would probably say just Harold. Should they get it for that? It's debatable. Probably. However the Independent Adjudicator did not have to give a ruling,as the player's answer was...Napoleon. |

I'm reminded of an edition of Celebrity Tipping Point where the question 'which Monarch was on the throne at the start of the 20th Century?' was met with the answer.....Margaret Thatcher |

Some of those pub quiz teams that get on Eggheads to take them on are absolutely pitiful. It's like Charles Hawtrey taking on a MMA fighter at times. Lambs to the slaughter. most of them. The challengers need to be of a much higher standard because the Eggheads, whether you like them or not, are the best of the best.
