This reminds me of a time at school when a teacher said "Is the Pope Catholic?" A girl replied, "I don't know. Is he? We were about 15 or so at the time.

Maybe didn't know that Autumn is a girl's name, or misheard it as Orton, which is a boy's name!

Heard this one on telly the other day. Can't remember if it was 15 To 1 or The Chase.

What is the musical that's named after the American term for a Merry-Go-Round?

Answer: Oklahoma

Carousel by Rodgers and Hammerstein. Famous song from it is "You'll Never Walk Alone", nothing to do with football in the musical though!

On Tipping Point yeasterday:

Pastor Maldanado was the first driver from which country to win a Formula 1 Grand Prix?

Venezuela/Colombia/Brazil.

Contestant - There have been lots of successful Brazilian drivers of the years, so I'm going to say Brazil"

That's not really stupid though, it's just a reasonable guess if you don't know the answer.

I guess the point being made is that if there had been lots of successful Brazilian drivers over the years, the one mentioned wouldn't have been the first to win a Grand Prix (assuming the win being asked about is a recent one) so the thinking doesn't entirely make sense. But I equally wouldn't have had a clue.

I see what you mean, though he could have been the first driver from Brazil before that country produced a string of successful drivers!

Oh, absolutely - that's why I edited my post to add the bit in brackets. But like I say, the name means nothing to me personally.

You're right, if you don't closely follow F1 then it wouldn't be something you would know.

This thread seems to have mostly turned listing wrong answers which the poster personally found obvious.

My understanding of it is that the contestant had a certain amount of knowledge concerning the history of F1 (being aware that there has been lots of successful Brazilian drivers over the years) but was not aware that Pastor Maldanado is a recent driver. Also, there is no mention in the question that it relates to a recent win.

Hey, I'm only surmising and trying to analyse why Dontbanme thought it was a stupid answer - which they clearly thought was self-evident But they'd be the one to say why for sure, not me...

I do however love the answer that Jackie Chan starred with her husband Sean Penn in Shanghai Surprise.

So it's wrong, I assume. I'm afraid I've never heard of her, so I'd have had no idea who her husband was.

Madonna starred with her then husband, Sean Penn, in Shangai Surprise. Jackie Chan is neither a woman nor has been married to a man. Jackie Chan is a Chinese martial artist who has starred in many films of that ilk. His probably most famous English speaking roles was in the Rush Hour films with Chris Tucker

Jackie Chan was also in the film Shanghai Noon which was what confused the contestant.

Thanks for these - I've never known anyone called Jackie who wasn't a female.

I don't personally know any men called Jackie but if I was asked to name a male celebrity called Jackie i'd have a a few options.

Jackie Chan, Jackie Mason, Jackie Stewart, Jackie Gleeson, Jackie Earl Healy.
