Thanks for the info. I rarely listen to the radio.

But you're not on a BBC music quiz programme. Counterpoint is a rich source of daft answers where you have to wonder at the gaps in their knowledge, although in fairness a lot of them are very impressive in the specialist subject round where they have no advance knowledge of the subjects.

Yes it has. Some right thickos on In It To Win It. Last night a woman was asked 'which European island country is known as the land of fire and ice'. She said England.

There was one on Eggheads on Friday. Question was what decade Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys was born, 1930s, 1950s or 1970s. Now you'd think somebody who said he was born in 1960 himself and knew who this was would have been aware they were active in the early 80s and so he was unlikely to have been born in the 70s, but no.

Then Barry, who is 66 and was first reserve for his college's University Challenge team, and that it was his all time favourite programme and remembered watching it in black and white, was umming and erring whether it started in 1962 or 1982. I suppose he may still have had a black and white telly in 1982.

Just wrong answers, not stupid ones.

The Neil Tennant one was a bit stupid. He would have had to be no more than 10 when the band started. And Barry was probably just waffling like they're told to, but he must have known it was earlier than 1982, so definitely stupid.

One from an episode of tipping point last week, I just caught a snippet of the program. Not so much a stupid answer, more a stupid question.

"With which sport is a professional golfer associated?"

I'll give you three guesses...

Who's Doing the Dishes is my guilty pleasure and this happened yesterday.

Four contestants go to a celebrity's house and they have to guess who is cooking for them by clues throughout the house and the meals that are cooked.

This is obviously filmed in 2015 and someone threw out Freddie Mercury as the celebrity.

Another question they asked last week: 'What are the colours of the Union Jack? Red, white and what?'

Surely there should be some standard of difficulty required in these programmes. Who gets any enjoyment answering something so simple? Ridiculous.

I don't know why, but for some reason my first thought was "black"!

In the '80's it was common for the quiz questions - particularly on the ITV Game shows - to be harder on Kids TV than they were on "normal" TV.

I noticed on the new series of 15 to 1 in the first round some of the questions were laughably easy.

You can't break an omlette without breaking what?

erm.... the pan? a sweat?, fingers?

A one from Millionaire Hot Seat - multiple choice.
Something that has not gone correctly is said to have gone what shaped?
Plum? Peach? Prune? Pear?

What Davey's Locker is a name for the bottom of the sea?

Contestant: Davey Crocket's Locker.

In fairness, there aren't that many famous 'Daveys' around. Under pressure, it would be very easy to go for the wrong Davey there!

And Sandi Toksvig is never incredulous at some of the stupid answers that are given - it's always "No, that's (whatever)", or "I like your answer, but x is what we were looking for."

Just imagine if Paxman was hosting this!

Which in itself is a double-dumb answer as England is not an island.
I guess she dodged what she thought were a few geisers on the way down to the shops on a cold winter's day but in reality turned out to be no more than a car splashing her from a flooded gutter.

A one from Hot Seat. Something like this...

What is the alternative name for Sasquach that is said to roam the North West American woods?

A) Loch Ness Monster
B) Abomibmal Snowman
C) Big Foot
D) Cyclops

The contestant, who was a Zoooligist, passed the question.

Ben Cohen, a former Strictly contestant, gave the answer "Darcey Brussels" as presenter or judge on a 2014 reality show. This was in today's Pointless.
