Do ITV still have their quizzes, perhaps you would prefer those

Quote:
“e.g.
Q. What is the capital of France?

A. London
B. Bradford
C. Paris”

Much of the enjoyment of Only Connect is not just not knowing the answer but often not even understanding the question with the answer and having the think about it later.

On Tipping Point yesterday.

What south coast city does Caroline Lucas represent in Parliament?

Answer: I'll answer this rather than pass (he had the option), Cornwall.

Needless to say as it was Tipping Point he won the game.

Why stupid? the British Post Office do, or did, it. My son used to get letters from Santa, courtesy of the Post office.

Fair enough. You think letters to Santa is more likely than postcodes.

Even the presenter thanked the contestant for the "comedy" answer.

To be fair, mid-late sixties sounds really recent for postcodes to be implemented!

Not recent at all. First introduced (but not fully implemented until 1974) in Britain in 1959.
Ireland still don't have them.

Never the less, this is Australia we are talking about.

Oh wow, I didn't realise they were that "new"!

Not really, I spent a week at the PO Training School at Stone in the mid-1960s (from school) we were shown the first versions of the automatic facing and sorting machines which used the fluorescent dots and postcodes.

To be pedantic, she doesn't represent a city, just part of one! She is MP for Brighton Pavilion, which is one of three Brighton & Hove constituencies.

A late comment on this, although I read it earlier. Did you mean "provided by" or even "first provided by" rather than "provided to"? The answer given might make a bit more sense then.

Although "Letterboxes" doesn't make sense either way.

And "provided by" is an odd phrasing too to be fair. Presumably it was something like "introduced by".

Agreed. Then the whole question makes some sense.

Yes I know this but I repeated the question and answer as well as I can remember it from Tipping Point and this thread is about stupid answers to quiz questions not how much of a city someone represents.

I think it was "to" but I can't be sure.
I remember thinking that computers and CDs didn't make much sense. Either way, I thought the correct answer was the most obvious one.

Yes of course. I was just wondering how accurate the original question was!

It would be impossible because there are only 3 buttons.

No, I've no idea what would be considered the correct answer. Why do you assume everybody's knowledgeable about 1980s pop music?
