Those 'celebs' did however go to those various universities and even if they just scraped an Ordinary should not be exactly thick to have got there in the first place.
Notwithstanding that, Lucy Porter was particularly impressive on Manchester's team, I thought.

Note, however, that nowhere are they referred to as "celebrities", as befits a programme like University Challenge.

Why a stupid answer? If you aren't sure then it is a fair guess as the airport has his name, A stupid answer would be 'Sausage'. It's not the 'I know so they should know thread'

BIB - Think this thread should be renamed to something like that.

Non stupid answers are posted over and over again, many other posters (like yourself) have responded by saying that the answer is not stupid, yet they keep on coming.

I would estimate that the proportion of the 985 posts on this thread which go anywhere near meeting the criteria of the thread title is probably less than 5%.

Also for many younger people JFK does mean as much as anyone who was around at the time. I suspect would not know what 'JFK' stood for.

If you mean contestants, I assume they went to school where people learn stuff like that.

Only just caught up on this answer as I was watching some Pointlesses off my planner!

Still crying.

I'm convinced she had some sort of bet going that she had to give 'Bert Kwouk' as an answer!!

I remember a conspiracy theory being offered here that they deliberately threw the round so that they would go out and get to do a second show, but who knows really.

One thing I'm sure I recall is that her partner didn't actually seem as nonplussed as you might have expected - and it was a round where they got to confer so he was clearly happy with it...

Funnily enough when I was at school we didnt learn about every historical thing of note that ever happened and I'm pretty sure I wasn't "taught" about JFK. I may have known who he was but I doubt I knew where he was assassinated. In fact I probably didn't know until some time in my adulthood when I developed an interest for this sort of thing.

So, indeed, it was not a stupid answer to have given.

"New York" was just a wrong answer. A stupid answer would have been "Barnsley".

Ah yes it did just click before I came back in
Although I wondered whether they meant two names as in a papal name and his birth name.

Best bit was a few episodes later finally shown this week, when Richard referenced it again, was Burt Kwouk WAS a pointless answer for one of final rounds I think!

That sounds a bit dubious. I wonder if during a break the old woman sneaked into Richard Osman's dressing room and took a look at the answers but remembered them in the wrong order. Then I guess she got caught by Richard but escaped with hilarious consequences? This sounds strangely familiar.
